Kitchen Extract Cleaning in Surrey

About kitchen extract cleaning in Surrey

We treat an extract system much as a doctor treats a patient: survey first, clean second, sign-off last. The sign-off is a TR19 certificate with a photo report, issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Common call-outs are for a smoky, hot kitchen with weak extraction and rancid smells from grease in the duct, on horizontal duct runs, canopies and hoods and plenums and filters.

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes a single shift for most kitchens, with long duct runs and tall risers needing more time.

  1. We survey the system, from your pictures or on site, canopy to discharge.
  2. We take grease readings at set points and give you a fixed quote.
  3. On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
  4. Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
  5. We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.

What you’ll pay

One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before any work starts.

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Landmarks near Guildford

Around Guildford, our work takes us to kitchens and buildings near Surrey Maths School, Sandfield Primary School and Guildford High School. Nearby too are Church of St John the Evangelist (under half a mile east), Stoke Park (within half a mile east) and The King's Head pub (less than half a mile south-east). For rail, the closest station is London Road (Guildford) station, about 0.6 miles south-east. Well-known places in the area include Guildford Castle (0.9 miles south) and Guildford House (0.8 miles south). Open spaces near Guildford include Silent Pool and Pewley Hill.

Kitchen extracts across Surrey

Kitchens across Surrey cook for very different hours, from all-day town-centre sites to part-time hall and school kitchens. The right interval comes from hours of use and grease readings.

Across London and the South East, we work evenings, overnight and weekends, so sites across Surrey do not have to lose a day.

Guildford: Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St John the Evangelist, or anywhere in Guildford, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. For schools such as Sandfield Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is normally booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.

Different parts, different methods

Restaurant and pub kitchens

A pub or restaurant can’t afford to cancel a service for a clean. We work overnight and at weekends where that suits, and hand back a clean kitchen ready to cook.

Canopy and plenum

The plenum is out of sight behind the filters, so it’s easy to forget. With the filters out, the plenum is scraped and degreased.

What kitchen extract cleaning can’t fix

Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • A canopy that is too small or a system that was badly designed
  • A damper that sticks or has a damaged link
  • A fan motor that has burnt out

What affects the quote in Surrey

The quote reflects the site in front of us. We take into account:

  • How easy every part is to reach
  • How big the system is
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

What to send for a quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it

Need a price for kitchen extract cleaning? Please call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and tell us about the site. We’ll talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before anything is booked.

Leave it or put it right?

Every week without a clean adds another layer. BESA guidance says the mean should not go above 200 microns between cleans, and anywhere reaching 500 microns or more needs a spot clean right away. Heavy build-up takes longer to remove than regular cleans.

What your quote should include

  • Whether the quote shows VAT
  • Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
  • What paperwork you get at the end

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.

Surrey questions

How often should a kitchen extract be cleaned?

BESA guidance sets minimums by daily cooking hours: 3-monthly for heavy use, 6-monthly for moderate use and 12-monthly for light use. Measured grease levels set the real interval.

What if parts of the system can’t be reached?

They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.

What do you do to protect the area?

By covering it before any work starts. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Each site gets its own report and pictures.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

No law names TR19 directly, but the Fire Safety Order 2005 does require the responsible person to manage fire risk. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19 as the standard, and many policies require it.

How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost?

The cost depends on the size of the system, its condition, access and timing. Call for a fixed quote, typically ready within one working day.

Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?

Cleans are timed to avoid service. Overnight, weekend and between-service cleans are all possible and the kitchen is ready to cook when we leave.
