Kitchen Extract Cleaning in Tandridge
Kitchen extract cleaning in Tandridge, surveyed first and signed off with a written report and photos. Call for a fixed quote.
- Proof of cleaning requested by an insurer
- Heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs
- A smoky, hot kitchen with weak extraction
How we handle kitchen extract cleaning in Tandridge
The ducts are where most of the grease hides. Access panels let us into the duct runs and risers, removing thick grease by hand, then using degreasers, hot water or steam to suit the deposit. Anything out of reach is noted in the report and extra access panels can be added. The work covers discharge points, extract fans and vertical risers, and people most often call us about poor airflow at the canopy and cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey. Kitchen extract cleaning, TR19 cleaning, extraction cleaning: whatever you call it, it’s the job we do every week across Surrey.
Grease that collects out of sight, behind the filters and along the duct, is what insurers and fire officers worry about, which is why a TR19® clean in Tandridge goes well beyond the canopy.
For a kitchen in or near Tandridge, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Leave it or put it right?
Leaving the clean until the next refit doesn’t make the grease go away. Fat that was soft and easy to remove hardens with heat and time, which is slower to clean. Staying on a regular cycle keeps each clean manageable. A fault that closes a site in a village like Tandridge affects everyone who depends on it.
What you pay depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.

Grease, kitchens and Tandridge
There are about 9 restaurants, cafés and canteens across Tandridge and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half), according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Every kitchen in that count with a canopy has a full extract system, canopy to discharge, to keep clear of grease. Surrey Fire and Rescue Service covers Tandridge. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. In Tandridge, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Tandridge council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Tandridge is Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Clinic, about 1.9 miles north-east. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as St Peter's CofE Infant School or anywhere near Tandridge, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St Peter or elsewhere in Tandridge, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

What affects the quote in Tandridge
The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- The condition we find in the survey
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before any work starts.
What we need to know
We can often survey from pictures. The most useful are:
- The site address and the type of premises
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Problems your staff have spotted
For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. We usually come back within one working day.
Questions from Tandridge
Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Tandridge?
Kitchens in Tandridge are inspected by Tandridge council’s environmental health officers. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.
Do you work overnight in Tandridge?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The work in Tandridge can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.
What do I get after the clean?
A TR19 certificate, plus a full photo report. It records what was cleaned, what wasn’t accessible and the recommended next clean date.
Does the law say I must clean to TR19?
Strictly, the legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, not from TR19. In practice, TR19 is how kitchens show they’re managing grease, and an insurer may refuse or reduce a claim without it.
Which parts of the extract do you clean?
All of it, from the canopy through to the discharge. Sections with no access are listed on the report, and extra panels can be fitted.
How long does a kitchen extract clean take?
Allow as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. We’ll confirm the time when we quote.
How much notice do you need?
The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. Quotes usually come back within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
What accreditations do you hold?
We clean to BESA TR19® Grease as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, and certificates go through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. We’ve been trading since 2009.
The process
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. The visit takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system. For a village or hamlet like Tandridge, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.
- You send pictures or we visit, and the system is surveyed from canopy to discharge.
- Grease thickness is measured and the price is fixed before work starts.
- On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
- We work through the system from the canopy to the fan and discharge.
- Readings are repeated, pictures taken, and your TR19 certificate and photo report issued.
How to prepare
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need

Advice
Part by part
Grease filters
A filter that is missing or bent lets grease straight past. Each filter is checked as it goes back in, and flag any that don’t.
Restaurant and pub kitchens
A pub or restaurant can’t afford to cancel a service for a clean. We work overnight and at weekends where that suits, and hand back a clean kitchen ready to cook.
Between visits
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:
- Give the canopy a daily wipe
- Report grease drips, smells or fan noise right away
- Diarise the next clean as soon as you get the certificate
- Switch the fan on before cooking starts
After cleaning, we re-test the same points we measured at the start, so you can see the difference in numbers as well as pictures. A TR19 certificate follows, issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
Keep the outside of the canopy wiped and any grease cups emptied. It won’t replace a TR19 clean, but it slows what reaches the duct.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.
