TR19 inspection across Surrey: what to expect

Before any clean in Surrey, we survey the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, fan and discharge. Access is checked along the full length, and record grease readings at set points. The work covers wet film thickness tests, post-clean checks and insurer audits, and common reasons people get in touch are checking the result of a recent clean and parts of the system left out of past cleans.

We start by comparing what we find with the survey or your pictures. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. After that, the work takes a couple of hours for a typical kitchen extract system.

  1. We go through any past certificates and reports.
  2. We follow the extract from canopy to discharge.
  3. We note where access panels are and where more are needed.
  4. Grease readings are taken and photos recorded.
  5. We report back with readings and a fixed quote.

Pricing in Surrey

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are unsure, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos for straight advice and a fixed quote.

Why book with us

  • Fixed quotes from a survey or pictures

How to get a quote

For TR19 inspection in Surrey, call 0345 646 2711 or email us. Tell us what kind of premises it is and when it’s open, and send pictures or your last report if you can. A fixed quote normally follows within one working day.

What’s near Guildford

Locally, jobs take us to businesses close to Surrey Maths School, Sandfield Primary School and Guildford High School and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include Church of St John the Evangelist (under half a mile east), Stoke Park (under half a mile east) and The King's Head pub (less than half a mile south-east). Guildford’s nearest station is London Road (Guildford) station, about 0.6 miles south-east. Other landmarks nearby include Guildford Castle (0.9 miles south) and Guildford House (0.8 miles south). For a walk, there’s Silent Pool and Pewley Hill.

Kitchen extracts across Surrey

In Surrey, a busy kitchen in a place such as Guildford, Woking and Camberley and a quiet village kitchen need very different cleaning intervals. Grease readings and BESA’s minimum intervals set the schedule for each.

In England, the Fire Safety Order puts the duty on the responsible person to assess and reduce fire risk, and a TR19® certificate and photo report give you a record of the work.

Guildford: School kitchens, at schools like Sandfield Primary School for example, are typically cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St John the Evangelist, or anywhere in Guildford, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Surrey

If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.

From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.

Why deal with it now?

A check after cleaning shows whether the work reached every part it should have, while there’s still time to put anything right.

What your quote should include

  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
  • What paperwork you get at the end
  • Whether the quote shows VAT
  • If they look at the system before pricing

What your team can do, and what needs us

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

Keeping the system healthy

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Look out for grease drips round the canopy edge
  • Send TR19 audit reports to your insurer on request
  • Wipe the canopy surfaces regularly
  • Book the next test on the date in the report

If any reading is 500 microns or more, the report flags it for immediate spot cleaning, and we can arrange it.

Keep filters clean and in place. Gaps around filters let grease get past them.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • A faulty or failing extract fan
  • Ductwork that was designed or installed badly
  • Sections with no access, until panels are fitted

Surrey: your questions answered

How often should grease be tested?

Often enough to know the mean stays under 200 microns between cleans. The readings themselves tell you if the interval needs to change.

Can you work evenings and weekends?

Yes. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote and we’ll book around them.

Do you check other contractors’ cleans?

Post-clean verification is a check after a clean, with fresh grease readings and pictures. It works whoever carried out the clean.

What’s TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

How far ahead should we book?

Earlier is better, especially for out-of-hours work. Quotes normally come back within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

How long does a TR19 inspection take?

An inspection takes anything from an hour for a small canopy and short duct to a good part of a day for a large site. Sites with several canopies take longer, so phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will plan it.
