Kitchen extract cleaning in GU15

Kitchen extract cleaning across GU15: what to expect

Cooking sends fat-laden vapour into the canopy with every service. It cools inside the duct and settles as a sticky film that thickens month by month. That film is fuel, and a proper clean removes it before it becomes a fire risk. The work covers horizontal duct runs, extract fans and canopies and hoods, and common reasons people get in touch are an overdue clean flagged by an EHO or fire officer and grease smells coming from the extract.

Our technicians bring everything the work needs, from protective sheeting to tools and access equipment. You only need to give us clear access and switch off what needs to be off. The visit takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the whole system and its access points.
  2. We record grease levels at set points, then fix the price.
  3. We arrive after close, protect the area and contain the waste.
  4. The treatment: heavy grease scraped out, then every part degreased to TR19® Grease.
  5. Then the clean bill of health: readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next date.

What you’ll pay

We do not list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will explain what it covers.

Ask for a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Near you in Camberley

We work in commercial kitchens and buildings around Royal Military Academy Library, The Claude du Vall pub and Church of St Paul and the streets around them. Also close by are Tomlinscote School (1 mile south), Tekels Park (within half a mile south-west), Tomlinscote School (1 mile south) and Prior Heath Infant School (under half a mile east). The closest station to Camberley is Camberley station, roughly 0.7 miles west. Other landmarks nearby include Frimley Park Hospital (1.2 miles south-west) and Surrey Heath Museum (0.7 miles north-west). Open spaces near Camberley include Wildmoor Heath and Horseshoe Lake.

Where we work in GU15

From Camberley, Sandhurst and Frimley to its smaller places, GU15 has kitchens of every size. Every one gets the same full TR19® clean, from the canopy to the discharge.

Across London and the South East, we work evenings, overnight and weekends, so sites in GU15 can keep trading.

Camberley: Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Camberley is Frimley Park Hospital, about 1.2 miles south-west. If you run a café or takeaway near Camberley station, early starts and late finishes leave little time to clean, so overnight extract cleaning suits.

Why it fails

It’s common for parts of a duct to have been missed for years. Most of the time it’s because there were never enough access panels, so those sections were never reached. That hidden grease keeps building where nobody looks.

Look out for these warning signs:

  • Grease smells coming from the extract
  • Extraction mentioned at an environmental health visit
  • Grease dripping from the canopy or filters
  • A TR19 certificate needed for the insurer

What affects the cost of kitchen extract cleaning

There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:

  • How easy every part is to reach
  • The condition of the system
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • The times the site is available

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

What to send for a quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • The site address and the type of premises

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from pictures and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before any work starts.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We will take a look and send you a fixed quote.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Between visits

Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:

  • Wipe the canopy down at the end of each day
  • Run the extract fan throughout cooking
  • Empty any grease troughs or cups on the canopy
  • Make sure every filter is fitted before cooking

We hand the kitchen back clean, with the sheeting removed and waste taken away. Waste grease and water are contained and removed, and equipment can be switched back on once we’ve gone.

Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing a kitchen can do. A filter that’s clean and seated properly stops more grease getting into the plenum, so the ductwork stays cleaner for longer.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so here are the limits:

  • A broken extract fan that will not run
  • Fire dampers that won’t close (that needs damper testing and remedials)
  • Blocked drains from a neglected grease trap (a separate service)

GU15: your questions answered

What types of premises do you cover?

Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, plus food production and leisure sites.

What does kitchen extract cleaning cost?

We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: the size of the system, its condition, access and when we can work. We fix the price before any work starts.

What happens if you can’t reach some of it?

They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. You’ll know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

Do you cover GU15?

Yes. We cover GU15 and the rest of Surrey, within our South East and London area. For a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

How much notice should we give?

Earlier is better, especially for out-of-hours work. We normally quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.

Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?

Out of hours: evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. We need the equipment cool, and we leave the kitchen ready to cook.

Will my insurer ask for a TR19 certificate?

Many insurers ask for proof of regular cleaning to TR19, and many policies require it. Without proof, a claim can be refused or reduced, so it’s worth checking your policy wording.
