Staff cleaning versus specialist work
When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
TR19 kitchen extract cleaning in Mickleham
A closed kitchen is not earning, so the timing of a clean matters. Cleans are booked for evenings, overnight or weekends, or between services where the kitchen has a gap. Equipment is switched off and left to cool, the area is sheeted, and the kitchen is handed back ready to cook. If you are dealing with a kitchen with no current TR19 certificate and years of baked-on grease in the ducts, we can put it right. Need a TR19 duct cleaning contractor for Mickleham? We have been cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East since 2009, with a certificate and photo report after every clean.
Most kitchens in Mickleham fall into one of BESA’s three bands: every 3 months for 12–16 hours, every 6 months for 6–12 hours and every 12 months for 2–6 hours, adjusted by what the grease readings show.
Work in a small place like Mickleham starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
The sign-off is always in writing: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning
We do not publish a price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:
- Travel, parking and unloading
- How big the system is
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re unsure, call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email for straight advice and a fixed quote.
What to send for a quote
To help us quote quickly, send us:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- A few general shots of the system
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Any previous report or certificate
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
Leave it or put it right?
There’s no law that names TR19, but the Fire Safety Order 2005 still applies. It puts a duty on the responsible person to assess and reduce fire risk, and in a kitchen that means keeping extract grease under control. Cleaning to TR19 is the recognised way to show you’ve done it. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

The process
We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system. Seeing the system in pictures first means the trip to Mickleham can be planned properly.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the whole system and its access points.
- We record grease levels at set points, then fix the price.
- After the kitchen closes, we sheet the area and set up to contain grease and water.
- The treatment: heavy grease scraped out, then every part degreased to TR19® Grease.
- The sign-off: post-clean readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next clean date.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move anything stored near the system
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
How to get a quote
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before we start.

What the work involves, part by part
Extract fan and discharge
Some systems have attenuators to cut noise, and they hold grease. We clean what can be reached and note anything that cannot.
Ductwork and risers
Bends and changes of direction trap more grease than straight runs. We test at points like these before and after cleaning, so the report shows the difference.
Kitchen extract cleaning around Mickleham
According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 3 bars, pubs and nightclubs and about 3 hotels and guest houses within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Mickleham. A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. Environmental health officers from Mole Valley council inspect food businesses in Mickleham. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready. Surrey Fire and Rescue Service covers Mickleham. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.

Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Michael, or anywhere in Mickleham, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Between visits
Results last longer with the right care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Clean grease off the canopy surfaces regularly
- Keep the TR19 certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
- Wash or exchange the filters often
- Empty any grease troughs or cups on the canopy
Any section without access is marked on the report. That is part of an honest TR19 clean, not a failing, and we can fit access panels so it’s reached next time.
Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing a kitchen can do. A filter that is clean and seated properly stops more grease getting into the plenum, so the ductwork stays cleaner for longer.

Signs you need kitchen extract cleaning in Mickleham
Grease filters are the first line of defence, and they’re often the weak point. Filters that are bent, badly fitted, missing or left uncleaned let more fat into the plenum and duct, and from there it travels on to the fan.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- A system with no record of a TR19 clean
- Proof of cleaning requested by an insurer
- Grease dripping from the canopy or filters
- Years of baked-on grease in the ducts
Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Polesden Lacey is about 2.4 miles west), access may need planning.
Questions to ask before booking
- What happens if part of the system cannot be accessed
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
- What paperwork you get at the end
