TR19 inspection in Sidlow
Taking on a kitchen in Sidlow with no cleaning records? Start with an inspection. You get readings, photos and a clear view of what’s needed, before any cleaning is booked. If you have cleaning intervals that may not suit the kitchen and sites with gaps in their extract records, we can put it right, from post-clean checks, wet film thickness tests and deposit thickness tests onwards.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

How we price TR19 inspection
You will get a fixed price before we start. It’s based on:
- The condition we find in the survey
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The times the site is available
- Travel, parking and unloading
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and why the quote is fixed before we start.
Asking for a quote
We can often survey from photos. Try to include:
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Any previous report or certificate
To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few pictures and any previous report or certificate. Then call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
Do you need TR19 inspection in Sidlow?
Grease in a duct is flammable fuel. A flare-up on the range can be drawn into the canopy and duct, and from there a fire can spread through the ductwork. Knowing how much there is lets you act before it becomes a hazard.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- Cleaning intervals that may not suit the kitchen
- Insurers asking for TR19 evidence
- Surveys needed before quoting a full clean
- Post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean
Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; East Surrey Hospital is the nearest hospital to Sidlow, about 1.8 miles north-east.
What to look for in a quote
- Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
- Whether they recommend a next date
- Whether the quote shows VAT
- Whether they’re fully insured
Sidlow questions
Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in Sidlow?
It’s Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Sidlow. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
Can school kitchens in Sidlow be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. There are about 3 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Sidlow. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes, 24/7. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, and the emergency line covers the rest.
Are you accredited?
CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We are fully insured and have been trading since 2009.
Can you price the work without visiting?
Yes, where the photos show enough. Otherwise, we book a survey at a time that suits the site, then a fixed quote.
Which sectors do you work in?
Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a small pub to a hospital. We work with hotels, schools, care homes, offices, retail and leisure sites.
How long does grease testing take?
Expect it to take around an hour or two per canopy and duct system. The visit is timed so cooking isn’t disrupted.
What do you do with what you remove?
It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. While we work, it’s kept contained to keep the area clean.
The process
Your staff do not need to do much on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and the rest is down to us. Before we leave, the area is tidied and the paperwork follows. The timing of a visit to Sidlow is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.
- The visit is arranged for when the kitchen is not busy.
- The system is checked from canopy to discharge.
- Grease readings are taken at set points using WFTT or DTT.
- We photograph the test points and record any sections we can’t reach.
- The findings go into a report with readings, photos and a recommended next clean.
Getting ready for the visit
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Let us know about parking and loading
Ask for a quote
There’s no standard price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To get going, call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.
Advice
Honest limits
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- The grease itself, which needs a full or spot clean
- Hidden runs that need access panels first
- Design faults in the extract system
If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll say what we think.

Different parts, different methods
Schools, hospitals and care homes
Inspections are planned around mealtimes and holidays so meals are not affected.
Canopy and plenum
We look over the canopy, inside and out, with readings where grease collects.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.
When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and send you a fixed quote.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too across Surrey. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Every visit ends with a dated report and pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
What TR19 inspection looks like in Sidlow
Food Standards Agency records list about 6 restaurants, cafés and works canteens in Sidlow and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Each kitchen extract among them can be measured for grease to set the right cleaning interval. It’s Reigate and Banstead council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Sidlow. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. Sidlow is covered by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.
Church and community hall kitchens, near Emmanuel Church or anywhere around Sidlow, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. School kitchens, at schools like Dovers Green School for example, are usually cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost.
