TR19 inspection in Stanford Common

Before any clean in Stanford Common, we survey the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, fan and discharge. Access is checked along the full length, and record grease readings at set points. If you’re dealing with pre-clean surveys before a first TR19 clean and post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean, we can help, from wet film thickness tests, deposit thickness tests and insurer audits onwards.

In a village or hamlet like Stanford Common, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are normally a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. So every job comes with a written report and photos, and grease extract cleans come with a TR19® certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Leave it or put it right?

Catching heavy deposits early keeps the fix small. Left alone, grease keeps building between cleans. Somewhere as small as Stanford Common, losing a kitchen or building to a fault is felt by everyone who uses it.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we will go through it with you.

What you get with us

  • Every job surveyed first
  • Ventilation hygiene specialists since 2009
  • CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001
  • One number for every site across the South East and London

See our cost guide and how to check a contractor.

Between visits

Aftercare is simple, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Flag changes in how much frying the kitchen does
  • Look out for grease drips round the canopy edge
  • File every inspection report with your certificates
  • Clean or swap grease filters as often as the kitchen needs

Readings of 500 microns or more are highlighted as needing immediate spot cleaning, and we can arrange it.

Clean, correctly fitted filters stop more grease reaching the duct. Missing or damaged filters let grease straight into the plenum.

How we price TR19 inspection

You will get a fixed price before we start. It takes into account:

  • The condition of the system
  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

The cost depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before work begins, so you know where you stand.

What to send for a quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to have:

  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • Your last certificate, test record or report

For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. We typically come back within one working day.

The process

We are used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes a morning or less for one kitchen, more where there are several systems. Visits to a village like Stanford Common are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.

  1. First we book a time that will not disrupt cooking.
  2. Every part of the system is examined, end to end.
  3. Grease readings are taken at set points using WFTT or DTT.
  4. Photos are taken at each point, and access gaps noted.
  5. We send a report setting out the readings, pictures and next steps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas

Get a fixed quote

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Advice

When to call us in Stanford Common

Looking at a canopy tells you little about what’s in the duct. Clean filters can hide a heavy layer behind them, which is why readings matter.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Sites with gaps in their extract records
  • Uncertainty over how often to clean
  • Ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits
  • Checking the result of a recent clean

A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Michael and All Angels or elsewhere in Stanford Common, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.

What to look for in a quote

  • How VAT is shown on the quote
  • What paperwork you get at the end
  • Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach

Choosing a duct cleaning contractor

When it’s something else

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Sections with no access, until panels are fitted
  • Fan breakdowns, which need a repair visit
  • Fire safety duties beyond the extract system

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on in Stanford Common

  • Post-clean checks

  • Insurer audits
  • Access surveys
  • Wet film thickness tests

How the job changes from site to site

Horizontal duct runs

Bends and long runs can hold heavy deposits, well away from where anyone looks.

Vertical risers

In buildings with several floors, the riser may pass through other tenants’ space, so we arrange access ahead of time.

FAQs for Stanford Common

Do you work in villages like Stanford Common?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Stanford Common?

Stanford Common is in the area of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

Do you check other contractors’ cleans?

Verification means repeat readings and photos once the clean is done. The report flags anything missed.

What do you do to protect the area?

Protection goes down first: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.

What is TR19?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.

When should we have our next grease test?

Often enough to know the mean stays under 200 microns between cleans. If readings rise, the interval should shorten.

Do we have to follow TR19 by law?

No. It’s the benchmark rather than the law. Without TR19 records, an insurance claim can be reduced or refused, so it matters in practice.

Which sectors do you work in?

Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a small pub to a hospital. We work with hotels, schools, care homes, offices, retail and leisure sites.
