Need TR19 inspection in Alfold?

What a clean will not put right

In fairness, there are a few things this work won’t fix:

  • Heavy deposits found on test, which still need cleaning
  • Installation problems, which fall under design guidance such as DW172
  • The legal duty, which stays with the responsible person

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will tell you honestly before booking.

TR19 inspection in Alfold, done properly

BESA’s minimum cleaning frequencies depend on how long the kitchen cooks each day: every 3 months for heavy use of 12 to 16 hours a day, every 6 months for moderate use of 6 to 12 hours, and every 12 months for light use of 2 to 6 hours. Those are minimums, and grease readings help set the real interval. Typical jobs include kitchen extract systems with no recent grease readings and sections of duct that can’t be reached, across pre-clean surveys, wet film thickness tests and deposit thickness tests.

Work in a small place like Alfold starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

The report is your system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal and sits alongside the report.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes around an hour or two per canopy and duct system. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Alfold and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. First we look at the system’s cleaning history, if there is one.
  2. The layout is traced from the canopy to the discharge.
  3. Access panels are located and any missing ones noted.
  4. We measure the grease and photograph each point.
  5. We report back with readings and a fixed quote.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

Ask for a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Alfold kitchens: local notes

Alfold, about 33 miles from central London, is within our usual area. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site. It’s Waverley council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Alfold. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.

Where a hall near Church of St Nicholas, or anywhere in Alfold, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does.

Alfold is about 9 miles west of Horsham, in Surrey. Sites in Alfold get the same service as everywhere we cover: a survey first, a fixed quote, work timed around your hours and a report with pictures. Alfold is one of 395 places in Surrey where we work for commercial clients. Our Guildford page covers sites nearby, about 11 miles away.

All of GU6 is covered for TR19 inspection, from the main roads to the quietest streets. Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Keep grease filters clean and fitted properly
  • Store grease readings where your insurer can see them
  • Keep access panels clear and unpainted
  • Clean grease off the canopy between professional cleans

Each report suggests the next clean and the next test, based on the readings and how the kitchen is used.

Keep certificates, reports and readings in one place so the history is easy to show.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

Common questions in Alfold

Which environmental health team covers Alfold?

The local authority for Alfold is Waverley council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.

Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in Alfold?

That’s Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.

How much does TR19 inspection cost?

Every site is different, so each gets its own fixed quote. To get one, call 0345 646 2711 or email us and tell us about the site and its opening hours.

What do you do to protect the area?

We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before work begins, and waste is contained as we go. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.

What should I send you?

Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. Then call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

How long does grease testing take?

As a guide, it takes anything from an hour for a small canopy and short duct to a good part of a day for a large site. System size and access decide the rest.

Is TR19 cleaning the law?

No, not in itself. The Fire Safety Order 2005 still requires the responsible person to manage fire risk, which in a kitchen includes grease in the extract. Many insurance policies also require TR19 adherence.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for anything that cannot wait until a planned visit. Call us any time and explain what’s happened.

Why deal with it now?

Sites in Alfold that have never measured grease cannot tell whether their cleaning interval suits the kitchen. Measured readings let a competent person set the interval. If the system at a site near Alfold fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Mention every system or site you need covered and we will price it together.

Why us?

  • Trading since 2009
  • Work around your opening hours, with 24/7 emergency cover
  • Fixed quotes, typically within one working day
  • Full insurance on every job

Signs you need TR19 inspection in Alfold

Grease builds up as cooking vapour cools inside the extract. It often collects where nobody can see it: the plenum, bends and horizontal runs.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • Parts of the system left out of past cleans
  • Surveys needed before quoting a full clean
  • Missing TR19 certificates or history
  • Extracts that may be over the 200 micron mean

Around Alfold, as anywhere, we clean the parts you cannot see as well as the canopy you can.

Before you book anyone

  • Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
  • When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
  • How they set the interval to the next visit
  • Whether a written report and photos are included
