Book TR19 inspection in Oxfordshire

TR19 inspection across Oxfordshire: what to expect

TR19® Grease says grease should not exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns or more at any point needs immediate spot cleaning. Testing is how you know where your system stands. The work covers post-clean checks, deposit thickness tests and access surveys, and the jobs we see most are kitchens whose menu or hours have changed and missing access panels found on survey.

Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system.

  1. After the clean, we arrange a time to check the system.
  2. We open the access points used on the clean.
  3. Grease readings are taken again at set points.
  4. We photograph each area to record how it was left.
  5. The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.

TR19 inspection across Oxfordshire: local notes

In Oxfordshire, we work in places such as Oxford, Banbury and Didcot and well beyond. We cover every place we list for Oxfordshire, 443 in all, and kitchens are cleaned around their opening hours, overnight and at weekends included.

London and the South East cover everything from city basements to rural kitchens. The same TR19® standard applies to all of them, in Oxfordshire and beyond.

Oxford: A hospital like Warneford Hospital, about less than half a mile east, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day. If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Oxford (Holywell Manor is about 0.8 miles north-west), fitting access panels needs care.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Oxfordshire

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Oxfordshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Different parts, different methods

Horizontal duct runs

Grease settles on the floor of horizontal ducts as the air cools. Readings are taken along each run through its access panels.

Schools, hospitals and care homes

Education kitchens need TR19 inspections like any other. Testing shows whether the interval suits.

What TR19 inspection cannot fix

TR19 inspection can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. It doesn’t solve:

  • Ductwork that was designed or installed badly
  • The responsible person’s own fire risk assessment
  • Hidden runs that need access panels first

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Have the latest report ready for insurance renewals
  • Never cook with filters missing
  • File every inspection report with your certificates
  • Look out for grease drips round the canopy edge

Each report suggests the next clean and the next test, based on the readings and how the kitchen is used.

Revisit the cleaning interval whenever the menu or hours change. A quick grease test answers the question.

Leave it or put it right?

Finding a hotspot early means a targeted spot clean rather than a bigger problem later. Left alone, grease keeps building between cleans.

What your quote should include

  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
  • Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
  • Whether the quote shows VAT
  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach

Oxfordshire questions

Can the work be done while we’re closed?

Yes. Evenings, nights and weekends are normal working hours for us, so you do not have to close during trading.

What should I send you?

Only a few details: the address, the site type, your opening hours and how we reach the system. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. After that, simply ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

How do you measure grease in a kitchen extract?

WFTT and DTT are the two methods for measuring grease thickness, in microns. Readings are taken at set points through the system.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where needed. A fixed quote follows.

How much notice should we give?

Book as early as you can for planned work, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.

What accreditations do you have?

We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

Which sectors do you work in?

Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, as well as food production and leisure sites.
