How we handle TR19 inspection in Sun Rising
If you’ve taken over a kitchen in Sun Rising and don’t know when the extract was last cleaned, an inspection is the place to start. You get readings, photos and a clear view of what’s needed, before any cleaning is booked. The work covers deposit thickness tests, post-clean checks and wet film thickness tests, and common reasons people get in touch are uncertainty over how often to clean and ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits.
For a kitchen in or near Sun Rising, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Fixed quotes for TR19 inspection in Sun Rising
You will get a fixed price before we start. It takes into account:
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- The size of the system
- Where the site is and how we reach it
Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re unsure, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email for straight advice and a fixed quote.
Asking for a quote
We can often survey from photos. Try to include:
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- The postcode and the type of business

FAQs for Sun Rising
Which fire authority looks after Sun Rising?
That’s Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Which environmental health team covers Sun Rising?
Food hygiene inspections in Sun Rising are carried out by Cherwell council. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.
What information do you need?
Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. After that, simply phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
What is grease thickness testing?
The Wet Film Thickness Test (WFTT) and Deposit Thickness Test (DTT) measure how thick the grease is at a given point. Readings are taken at set points through the system.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.
What types of premises do you cover?
Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a small pub to a hospital. We work with hotels, schools, care homes, offices, retail and leisure sites.
How long does grease testing take?
Testing takes a couple of hours for a typical kitchen extract system. Sites with several canopies take longer, and you can call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us to book it in.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and we’ll quote them together.
What we do, step by step
We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes a morning or less for one kitchen, more where there are several systems. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Sun Rising.
- After the clean, we arrange a time to check the system.
- The same access points are opened up.
- Grease readings are taken again at set points.
- We photograph each area to record how it was left.
- The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.
Before we arrive
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
Ask for a quote
To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few photos and any previous report or certificate. Then call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.

Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.

Keeping the system healthy
So the system stays in good health:
- Share inspection reports with your insurer or broker when asked
- Tell us if menus or opening hours change
- Keep TR19 certificates, readings and reports together
- Keep grease filters clean and fitted properly
After post-clean verification, file the results with the cleaning certificate. Together they show the system was cleaned and checked.
Keep certificates, reports and readings in one place so you can produce them quickly.
Why it’s worth doing now in Sun Rising
If a kitchen in Sun Rising has been cleaned on the same calendar for years, there’s no way to know if that interval is right without measuring. Measured readings let a competent person set the interval. It’s simpler to plan the work at Sun Rising now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why every job is surveyed first, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.

Signs you need TR19 inspection in Sun Rising
You can’t judge grease thickness by eye. A system can look clean at the filters and be heavily coated further in, which is why readings matter.
Look out for any of the following:
- Parts of the system left out of past cleans
- Uncertainty over how often to clean
- Insurers asking for TR19 evidence
- Missing TR19 certificates or history
If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Upton House is about 0.5 miles east), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning.
What your quote should include
- What hours they’ll be on site
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
- Whether the quote shows VAT
- How they set the interval to the next visit
