Why act early in Marston
A pre-clean survey avoids surprises on the night. Missing access panels, hidden duct runs and awkward fans are found before the cleaners arrive, and the quote reflects the real job. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Marston is calmer for everyone.
One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before work begins.

TR19 inspection in Marston, done properly
BESA’s minimum cleaning frequencies depend on how long the kitchen cooks each day: every 3 months for heavy use of 12 to 16 hours a day, every 6 months for moderate use of 6 to 12 hours, and every 12 months for light use of 2 to 6 hours. Grease testing shows whether your kitchen needs cleaning more often than that. We are often asked to deal with missing TR19 certificates or history and insurers asking for TR19 evidence, on wet film thickness tests, deposit thickness tests and access surveys.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. We agree access and timings in advance.
A written report with photos follows every visit, so you have a record of what was done and when. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Between visits
Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:
- Book the next test on the date in the report
- Keep grease filters clean and fitted properly
- Wipe the canopy surfaces regularly
- Look out for grease drips round the canopy edge
The audit report is set out to pass straight to your insurer or broker, with readings, pictures and any areas not accessible.
Clean, correctly fitted filters stop more grease reaching the duct. Missing or damaged filters let grease straight into the plenum.

Marston questions
Do you work at weekends in Marston?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Marston needn’t be disturbed. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Can you get to a site in Marston?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
The report shows them clearly. Often the fix is extra access, such as new panels in ductwork, which we can install.
How do you keep the site clean during the work?
We start with protection: sheeting over floors, worktops and anything close to the work. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line, for problems that cannot wait. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.
What do the grease readings need to be?
Between cleans, the mean should stay at 200 microns or below, and anywhere at 500 microns or more needs spot cleaning right away.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you’ll get one fixed quote.
What staff can safely do
Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. That is our job.
Different parts, different methods
Extract fan and discharge
The extract fan and its housing collect grease too. We check and test them as part of the inspection.
Canopy and plenum
We look over the canopy, inside and out, with readings where grease collects.
The process
A visit follows the same order every time: protect the area, isolate whatever needs isolating, carry out the TR19 inspection, clear away and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes anything from an hour for a small canopy and short duct to a good part of a day for a large site. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Marston and turn up when the site is quiet.
- Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
- The same access points are opened up.
- We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
- Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
- The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Move anything stored near the system
Getting a quote
Quotes are quick. Send a few details and photos, and we typically reply with a fixed quote within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

Marston kitchens: local notes
According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 20 pubs and bars and about 8 hotels and B&Bs across Marston and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. The fire and rescue service for Marston is Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Kitchens in Marston get their food hygiene inspections from Oxford City council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.
Where a hall near Church of St Nicholas, or anywhere in Marston, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does. Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Churchill Hospital is the nearest hospital to Marston, about 1.2 miles south-east. Term dates shape school work: for a school like St Nicholas Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.

How we price TR19 inspection
The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:
- How many systems or sites are involved
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Parking and loading at the site
Combining work into one visit or one programme can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you’ll get one fixed quote.
What to send for a quote
Many jobs can be priced from pictures and some basics. Useful things to send:
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- The postcode and the type of business
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your pictures and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before any work starts.
Honest limits
We will not sell you work that does not address the problem, so here are the limits:
- Parts of the duct nobody can reach yet
- The responsible person’s own fire risk assessment
- The grease itself, which needs a full or spot clean
If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.
