How kitchen deep cleaning works in Kent

An EHO looks at the whole kitchen, not just the worktops. Build-up on walls, ceilings and behind equipment is part of what they see. A deep clean puts the whole kitchen in good order whenever it’s needed. The work covers stainless steel surfaces, floors and floor drains and ranges and ovens, and common reasons people get in touch are a clean-up ahead of an inspection and a kitchen clean booked with the extract clean.

When we arrive, we check the system against the survey or the pictures you sent. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. From there, it takes a full shift for most kitchens, longer for a large one.

  1. First, we agree what’s being cleaned and when.
  2. Equipment is switched off and allowed to cool.
  3. High-level surfaces, walls and the canopy exterior are cleaned.
  4. We clean the equipment and the hidden areas around it.
  5. We finish the floors and walk round with you.

What you will pay

You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

What’s near Maidstone

Around Maidstone, our work takes us to kitchens and buildings near Paper Makers Arms, Maidstone Grammar School and St Philip's Church. Other local landmarks include River Len LNR (less than half a mile north-east), South Borough Primary School (under half a mile south) and St Augustine Academy (1.2 miles west). The closest station to Maidstone is Maidstone West station, roughly 0.6 miles north-west of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find Maidstone Carriage Museum (within half a mile north-west) and Oakwood Hospital (1.8 miles west). The countryside around Maidstone includes Burham Down and Boxley Hills.

Commercial kitchens across Kent

Across Kent, from Maidstone, Ashford and Canterbury outwards, commercial kitchens range from busy town-centre sites to school, care home and pub kitchens. All of them collect grease behind equipment, on high surfaces and in the drains.

From central London kitchens to coastal hotels and country pubs, London and the South East have every kind of site. The same TR19® standard applies to all of them, in Kent and beyond. Parts of Kent are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on rooftop fans, discharge cowls and fixings. We look for corrosion as well as dirt on coastal sites.

Maidstone: If you run a café or takeaway near Maidstone West station, a deep clean overnight means the kitchen opens as normal next morning. A summer deep clean suits schools such as South Borough Primary School, as the kitchen can be stripped back with no lunches to serve.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Signs you need kitchen deep cleaning

Cooking releases grease with every service. Some is caught by the extract, but some settles on walls, ceilings and equipment. Over weeks and months, it builds into a sticky layer.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A whole-kitchen clean while the extract is cleaned
  • A kitchen taken over in poor condition
  • Food debris trapped under the range
  • Floors with grease along the edges

What affects the cost of kitchen deep cleaning

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • What state the system is in
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • Parking and loading at the site

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you are not sure what’s needed, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Asking for a quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • A few general shots of the system
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is

Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few photos and any previous report or certificate. Once you have those, call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

Between visits

A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:

  • Book deep cleans on a regular cycle
  • Pull out equipment for cleaning where it’s safe to do so
  • Get cracked tiles and damaged surfaces fixed
  • Pay attention to corners and edges when mopping

Anything we notice during the clean, such as worn flooring or a dirty extract, is pointed out. That might mean a TR19® clean or a repair by another trade.

Old grease hardens with every service. Booking one sooner keeps the work manageable, and keeps the kitchen ready for an inspection.

Your questions about kitchen deep cleaning in Kent

What’s TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

Is it possible to book a deep clean with a TR19 clean?

Yes, and it often makes sense. The extract is cleaned inside to TR19 and the kitchen gets its deep clean too.

What about areas you can’t get to?

We record them on the report, with a note of where it is, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.

Will you clean under the ranges and fryers?

Behind and under the equipment is a key part of the job. If something cannot be moved safely we clean as far around and under it as possible.

Which areas does a deep clean cover?

It takes in the places daily cleaning does not reach, from high walls and ceilings to the floor under the range. The cooking equipment is cleaned too.

Do inspectors look at how clean the whole kitchen is?

Cleanliness is one of the things inspectors assess. Deep cleaning takes care of grime in the places that are easy to miss and good daily cleaning keeps it that way.

Which records should we keep?

Each report and certificate we give you, filed in the maintenance log with your in-house cleaning records. BESA advises that certificates record the date, location and technician.
