Our kitchen extract cleaning service in ME20
Few kitchens can stop cooking for a day so the extract can be cleaned. Cleans are booked for evenings, overnight or weekends, or between services where the kitchen has a gap. Equipment is switched off and left to cool, the area is sheeted, and the kitchen is handed back ready to cook. Common call-outs are for a TR19 certificate needed for the insurer and extraction mentioned at an environmental health visit, on extract fans, discharge points and canopies and hoods.
We are used to working while the site is closed. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. The visit itself takes a single shift for most kitchens, with long duct runs and tall risers needing more time.
- We start with a survey, so we know every part of the system before we quote.
- Grease readings are taken at set points and you get a fixed quote.
- On the day, cooking equipment is switched off and left to cool, and everything nearby is sheeted.
- We clean the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- We test again, photograph the result and issue your TR19 certificate and photo report.

Kitchen extract cleaning across ME20: local notes
In ME20, we work in places such as Allington, Ditton and Aylesford and well beyond. Every place on our ME20 list (12 in all) is covered, with cleans booked around trading hours.
Much of our work across London and the South East happens in the evening, overnight or at weekends, so sites in ME20 can keep trading.
Ditton: A kitchen near Aylesford station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval. Bursars and site managers at schools such as Ditton Infant School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty.
Managing agents and facilities teams in ME20
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
How we price kitchen extract cleaning
The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:
- The times the site is available
- Any permits to work or inductions
- How easy every part is to reach
- Where the site is and how we reach it
Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you are not sure what’s needed, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.
Helping us quote
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Problems your staff have spotted
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
For kitchen extract cleaning in ME20, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, and send photos or your last report if you can. We usually send a fixed quote within one working day.
Why deal with it now?
An overdue clean in ME20 is best dealt with now rather than after the next inspection. The job takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits, and we work evenings, overnight and weekends so you do not lose a service. Every extra month adds grease.

Aftercare tips
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Give the canopy a daily wipe
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Clean the grease filters regularly between TR19 cleans
- Switch the fan on before cooking starts
Every clean ends with a photo report. Before and after pictures show each part of the system, alongside a list of what was cleaned, anything out of reach and the recommended next clean date.
Wipe the canopy down regularly and empty grease troughs or collection points. A daily wipe is not a deep clean, but it helps between visits.
Part by part
Schools, hospitals and care homes
School kitchens can look lightly used but still need a TR19 clean at least every 12 months under BESA guidance. School holidays are an easy time to do it.
Extract fan and discharge
Grease that reaches the fan coats the blades and the housing. We isolate it, open it up and degrease it.
Questions from ME20
What does TR19 mean?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.
Will I get a certificate after the clean?
A TR19 certificate and a photo report. Certificates are issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, and the report includes before and after photos, grease readings and the recommended next clean date.
How far ahead should we book?
The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. Quotes normally come back within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.
What if parts of the system can’t be reached?
We never leave them off the paperwork. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
How often should a kitchen extract be cleaned?
Under BESA guidance, the minimum depends on how long you cook each day: every 3 months for 12 to 16 hours, 6 months for 6 to 12 hours and 12 months for 2 to 6 hours. Grease readings can show a shorter interval is needed.
How long will the clean take?
Short systems are done in a few hours, but large systems may be spread over more than one visit. We’ll tell you how long when we quote.
How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost in ME20?
It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. To get one, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with the site type, opening hours and a few pictures.
