Our kitchen extract cleaning service in CT1
Many insurers ask for proof that the extract has been cleaned to TR19, and a claim can be refused or reduced without it. For a kitchen in CT1, our certificate and photo report give you that record, ready for the fire risk assessment file. The work covers vertical risers, plenums and filters and horizontal duct runs, and common reasons people get in touch are a smoky, hot kitchen with weak extraction and a system with no record of a TR19 clean.
We are used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system.
- We survey the system, from your photos or on site, canopy to discharge.
- We take grease readings at set points and send you a fixed quote.
- On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
- We work through the system from the canopy to the fan and discharge.
- We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.
Pricing in CT1
Combining work into one visit or one programme often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you will get one fixed quote.
Why book with us
- We are fully insured
- We diagnose before we treat
- Photo reports with every job
- Fixed quotes from a survey or pictures
How to get a quote
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Kitchen extracts across CT1
From Canterbury, Wincheap and Hales Place to its smaller places, CT1 has kitchens of every size. Every one gets the same full TR19® clean, from the canopy to the discharge.
Much of our work across London and the South East happens in the evening, overnight or at weekends, so sites across CT1 do not have to lose a day.
Canterbury: Where a hall near Church of St Margaret, or anywhere in Canterbury, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does. A kitchen near Canterbury East station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval.
Looking after it afterwards
Simple habits between visits make a real difference. We recommend:
- Keep the cleaning records where you can find them
- Flag any change in how the extract sounds or works
- Keep the extract on whenever the range is lit
- Make sure every filter is fitted before cooking
When the clean is finished, grease readings are taken again at the same points, giving you before and after readings alongside the photos. Your TR19 certificate is then issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
Keep the outside of the canopy wiped and any grease cups emptied. It will not replace a TR19 clean, but it slows what reaches the duct.
Honest limits
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- A duct that is holed or coming apart
- An undersized canopy or fan
- Fire dampers that will not close (that needs damper testing and remedials)
Why it fails
We often find duct sections that haven’t been cleaned since they were installed. Most of the time it’s because there were never enough access panels, so nobody could get to them. That hidden grease keeps building where nobody looks.
It’s time to book a visit if you see:
- An overdue clean flagged by an EHO or fire officer
- Grease smells coming from the extract
- A smoky, hot kitchen with weak extraction
- A new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Fixed quotes for kitchen extract cleaning in CT1
We do not publish a price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:
- Site rules, permits and inductions
- How many systems or sites are involved
- The condition of the system
- How big the system is
Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.
Asking for a quote
Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- The site address and the type of premises
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
There’s no standard price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.
FAQs for CT1
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and the emergency line covers the rest.
How long does a kitchen extract clean take?
Short systems are done in a few hours, while long runs and tall risers take longer and may need more than one visit. Your quote says how long to expect.
What’s the right cleaning interval for a kitchen extract?
BESA guidance sets minimums by daily cooking hours: every 3 months for 12 to 16 hours, 6 months for 6 to 12 hours and 12 months for 2 to 6 hours. Measured grease levels set the real interval.
How much notice should we give?
That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
We record them on the report, with a note of where it is, and we explain what access is needed, such as extra access panels in ductwork.
What is TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
What does kitchen extract cleaning cost?
We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how big it is, what state it’s in, how we reach it and the working hours. We fix the price before we start.
