How kitchen extract cleaning works in E7
Has the extract gone a while without a clean, or has the paperwork gone missing? Send a few pictures of the canopy and filters when you call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us, and we’ll come back with a fixed price for the work in E7, typically within one working day. We are often asked to deal with an inspection that picked up a dirty extract and a system with no record of a TR19 clean, on extract fans, discharge points and vertical risers.
Your trading hours come first. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system.
- We start with a survey, so we know every part of the system before we quote.
- We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
- On the day, cooking equipment is switched off and left to cool, and everything nearby is sheeted.
- Canopy, plenum, filters, duct runs, risers, fan and discharge are all cleaned to TR19® Grease.
- We test again, photograph the result and issue your TR19 certificate and photo report.
What affects the price in E7
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are unsure, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Also close by are Tyndale Academy (0.6 miles south-east), The Hudson Bay pub (within half a mile south) and A Radical Church (within half a mile south-east). Kitchen extracts across E7
Kitchens across E7 cook for very different hours, from all-day town-centre sites to part-time hall and school kitchens. The right interval comes from hours of use and grease readings.
Across England, including E7, the responsible person has a legal duty to assess and reduce fire risk, and each certificate and photo report is a record you can keep in your log book.
Forest Gate: School kitchens, at schools like Woodgrange Infant School for example, are normally cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near A Radical Church, or anywhere in Forest Gate, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Why deal with it now?
Grease that’s left only gets thicker. Under BESA guidance, grease shouldn’t exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, and anywhere reaching 500 microns or more needs a spot clean right away. The longer it’s left, the bigger the job becomes.
What your quote should include
- What records you will receive afterwards
- How areas they can’t reach will be recorded
- Whether the price is fixed
- Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
Part by part
Canopy and plenum
Grease meets the system first at the canopy and the plenum behind the filters. We clean both inside and out, including the filter housing.
Grease filters
Between TR19 cleans, filters still need regular cleaning, and a filter exchange service can take that off your hands. Keeping them clean helps the rest of the system stay cleaner.
Why it fails
Grease in an extract starts as vapour. As the air cools on its way through the duct, the fat condenses and sticks, building a layer that gets thicker with every service. The grease filters stop some, never all of it.
Any of these means the system needs a check-up:
- A kitchen with no current TR19 certificate
- Proof of cleaning requested by an insurer
- Grease drips onto cooking equipment
- Years of baked-on grease in the ducts
How we price kitchen extract cleaning
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Site rules, permits and inductions
- The condition of the system
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The number of sites or systems
A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. You’ll have a fixed price before we start.
What we need to know
To speed up the quote, send us:
- A few general shots of the system
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- The postcode and the type of business
There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, and then send you a fixed quote. To start, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
Managing agents and facilities teams in E7
Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
E7 questions
Is E7 in your area?
Yes. We work in E7 and the rest of Greater London, within our South East and London area. To book, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
Do you work with multi-site operators?
Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Every site has its own report.
Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?
We work around your hours. Most kitchens book us overnight or at weekends and the kitchen is ready to cook when we leave.
What types of premises do you cover?
Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a small pub to a hospital. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.
Can you price the work without visiting?
Yes, where the pictures show enough. If not, a site survey comes first, and the quote follows that.
Are you accredited for kitchen extract cleaning?
As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, our work sits within an independently audited scheme. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
