About TR19 inspection in Windsor and Maidenhead

After a clean, post-clean verification checks the result, with fresh grease readings, pictures and a look at the areas that were cleaned. It shows whether the system was left in the condition the paperwork describes. Typical jobs include sections of duct that can’t be reached and ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits, on access surveys, post-clean checks and pre-clean surveys.

Our technicians bring everything the work needs, including protection sheets, the right tools and access kit. You only need to give us clear access and switch off what needs to be off. On site, the work takes around an hour or two per canopy and duct system.

  1. First we look at the system’s cleaning history, if there is one.
  2. The layout is traced from the canopy to the discharge.
  3. We note where access panels are and where more are needed.
  4. We measure the grease and photograph each point.
  5. We report back with readings and a fixed quote.

Kitchen extracts across Windsor and Maidenhead

In Windsor and Maidenhead, we work in places such as Maidenhead, Windsor and Boyn Hill and well beyond. Every place on our Windsor and Maidenhead list (57 in all) is covered, with cleans booked around trading hours.

Much of our work across London and the South East happens in the evening, overnight or at weekends, so sites across Windsor and Maidenhead don’t have to lose a day.

Maidenhead: Volunteers running a hall kitchen near All Saints' Church, or anywhere in Maidenhead, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. A hospital like St Mark's Hospital, about 0.6 miles west, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day.

What staff can safely do

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.

When it’s something else

We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • Mechanical faults in the extract
  • Sections with no access, until panels are fitted
  • The responsible person’s own fire risk assessment

Managing agents and facilities teams in Windsor and Maidenhead

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

Aftercare tips

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:

  • Flag oily drips near the extract
  • Have the latest report ready for insurance renewals
  • Keep access panels clear and unpainted
  • Diary the next grease test and clean

For an insurer audit, send them the report as it is, including readings, photos and any inaccessible sections.

Test grease regularly instead of relying on the calendar. It shows if build-up is speeding up.

Different parts, different methods

Vertical risers

Risers carry the extract up through the building. Grease can run down and collect at the base, so we check there.

Extract fan and discharge

We look at where the extract discharges outside, as grease can build up there too.

Common questions in Windsor and Maidenhead

What’s TR19?

A BESA specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It isn’t legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.

Do we have to follow TR19 by law?

No, TR19® is not legislation. But the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk under the Fire Safety Order 2005, and grease in the extract is part of that. Many insurance policies also require TR19 adherence.

Can the work be done while we are closed?

Yes. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote and we will book around them.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and we’ll quote them together.

What do you do with what you remove?

Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. We don’t leave it behind.

What is a WFTT or DTT grease test?

It’s a measurement of how much grease is coating the inside of the extract, by WFTT or DTT. The results are given in microns.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the site is, what it is and when it’s open, along with a few pictures and any previous report.
