Honest limits

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what TR19 inspection won’t do:

  • Fan breakdowns, which need a repair visit
  • Hidden runs that need access panels first
  • The grease itself, which needs a full or spot clean

If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll say what we think.

What the work covers

  • Access surveys

TR19 inspection for kitchens and businesses in Taplow

A grease test measures how thick the grease is inside a kitchen extract system. We use the Wet Film Thickness Test (WFTT) or the Deposit Thickness Test (DTT), taking readings at set points. From the numbers, you can see whether cleaning is due. If you have cleaning intervals that may not suit the kitchen and checking the result of a recent clean, we can put it right, from deposit thickness tests, pre-clean surveys and wet film thickness tests onwards.

Somewhere as small as Taplow, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.

The report is your system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

Leave it or put it right?

Sites in Taplow that have never measured grease cannot tell whether their cleaning interval suits the kitchen. Testing gives you the evidence to set it properly. If the system at a site near Taplow fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will explain what it covers.

Signs you need TR19 inspection in Taplow

Grease builds up as cooking vapour cools inside the extract. It often collects where nobody can see it: the plenum, bends and horizontal runs.

Clients normally contact us after spotting one of these:

  • Sections of duct that can’t be reached
  • Uncertainty over how often to clean
  • Heavy grease suspected in the plenum or ducts
  • Surveys needed before quoting a full clean

A kitchen near Taplow station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval.

Questions to ask before booking

  • How they set the interval to the next visit
  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
  • Whether a written report and pictures are included
  • If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate

Fixed quotes for TR19 inspection in Taplow

Your quote is based on your site. We take into account:

  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • What state the system is in
  • Travel, parking and unloading

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before work begins.

Helping us quote

We can often survey from pictures. Try to include:

  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before any work starts.

Part by part

Extract fan and discharge

The extract fan and its housing collect grease too. We check and test them as part of the inspection.

Horizontal duct runs

Flat duct runs collect grease along their base. We test at points along the run through access panels.

FAQs for Taplow

Can you get to a site in Taplow?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Which fire service covers Taplow?

Taplow is in the area of Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we will suggest a schedule and quote for it.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The site address, the type of premises and your opening hours, along with a few photos and any previous report.

Why survey before a clean?

The survey covers the whole system, grease readings and access to each section. From it, we plan the clean and quote a fixed price.

Can you quote from pictures?

In many cases, yes. With good photos, the site type and your last report, we can price many jobs. Where we cannot see enough, we arrange a survey.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes, every time. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need and the fixed quote is built on it.

How often should grease be tested?

Often enough to know the mean stays under 200 microns between cleans. If readings rise, the interval should shorten.

The process

We’re used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system. Visits to a village like Taplow are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.

  1. After the clean, we arrange a time to check the system.
  2. The same access points are opened up.
  3. We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
  4. Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
  5. The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Get a fixed quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Multi-site and managed buildings

If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.
