About kitchen extract cleaning in E1

We have been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, we clean to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’re fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We are often asked to deal with a new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history and an overdue clean flagged by an EHO or fire officer, on horizontal duct runs, discharge points and plenums and filters.

On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before work begins, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes a single shift for most kitchens, with long duct runs and tall risers needing more time.

  1. We survey the system, from your photos or on site, canopy to discharge.
  2. We take grease readings at set points and give you a fixed quote.
  3. On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
  4. Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
  5. We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.

Pricing in E1

Kitchen extract cleaning around E1

In E1, we work in places such as Shoreditch, Whitechapel and Bishopsgate and well beyond. We cover every place we list for E1, 16 in all, and kitchens are cleaned around their opening hours, overnight and at weekends included.

London and the South East cover everything from city basements to rural kitchens. Wherever the site is in E1, the work is done to the same TR19® standard.

Shoreditch: If you cook for passing trade around Shoreditch High Street station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer. Bursars and site managers at schools such as Virginia Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty.

What the work involves, part by part

Canopy and plenum

The plenum is out of sight behind the filters, so it’s easy to forget. With the filters out, the plenum is scraped and degreased.

Restaurant and pub kitchens

Restaurants and pubs tend to cook long hours with plenty of frying and grilling, so their cleaning interval is often 3 or 6 months under BESA guidance. Cleans are done after close, overnight or before opening.

What staff can safely do

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

When it’s something else

Kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It doesn’t solve:

  • A fan motor that has burnt out
  • A duct that’s holed or coming apart
  • Extraction that can’t cope with the cooking because of its design

Leave it or put it right?

If your kitchen in E1 is past its cleaning date, it’s worth booking now. It takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system, and we fit around your opening hours. Waiting only adds grease and risk.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether a written report and pictures are included
  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
  • Whether a survey comes first
  • How they set the interval to the next visit

Signs you need kitchen extract cleaning

Grease filters are the first line of defence, and they’re often the weak point. Filters that are bent, badly fitted, missing or left uncleaned let more fat into the plenum and duct, and it doesn’t stop until it reaches the fan.

These are the problems we see most often:

  • A system with no record of a TR19 clean
  • Grease drips onto cooking equipment
  • Years of baked-on grease in the ducts
  • Poor airflow at the canopy

Your questions about kitchen extract cleaning in E1

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we will suggest a schedule and quote for it.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. Photos often do the job, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.

Is a quote from pictures possible?

Yes, if we can see what we need. Otherwise, we book a survey at a time that suits the site, then a fixed quote.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you’ll get one fixed quote.

Do you clean the whole extract system or just the canopy?

A TR19 Grease clean covers the full extract route, not just the canopy. Canopy, plenum, filters, ductwork, risers, fan and discharge are all included, reached through access panels where needed.

Will my insurer ask for a TR19 certificate?

Grease-filled ducts can carry fire well beyond the kitchen. Many policies say the extract must be cleaned to TR19, and a claim may be reduced without proof, so keep every certificate.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.
