Kitchen extract cleaning across HA3: what to expect
We’ve been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’re fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. Typical jobs include cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey and grease dripping from the canopy or filters, on vertical risers, plenums and filters and discharge points.
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. The visit itself takes anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system.
- We survey the system first, from your pictures and details or on a site visit.
- Set points are tested for grease thickness and the quote is fixed before we start.
- Once the kitchen has closed and the equipment has cooled, we sheet and protect the area.
- The whole route is cleaned, from the canopy through the ductwork to the fan and the discharge.
- Readings and photos are taken again, and you receive a TR19 certificate and photo report.
What affects the price in HA3
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before we start.
Why choose Duct Doctor
- A fixed price before any work starts
- We diagnose before we treat
- Member of BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease
- Every visit written up, with photos
Getting a quote
Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Call or email with a few details and you’ll normally have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.
Around Kenton
Around Kenton, our work takes us to kitchens and buildings near Uxendon Manor Primary School, Preston Park and The New Moon pub, among other places. You’ll also find St Gregory's Catholic Science College (under half a mile south-east) and Church of St Mary (under half a mile west). The closest station to Kenton is Kenton station, roughly 0.5 miles south-west. Nearby you’ll also find St. Anns (1.3 miles west) and Hilfield Castle (4.9 miles north). Open spaces near Kenton include Masons Field and Northala Fields.
Kitchen extract cleaning across HA3: local notes
From Harrow, Stanmore and Hatch End to its smaller places, HA3 has kitchens of every size. Every one gets the same full TR19® clean, from the canopy to the discharge.
Across London and the South East, we work evenings, overnight and weekends, so sites across HA3 don’t have to lose a day.
Kenton: A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Mary or elsewhere in Kenton, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as St. Mark's Hospital (about 0.9 miles south-west), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.
When something else is needed
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- Extraction that can’t cope with the cooking because of its design
- A broken extract fan that will not run
- Damaged duct sections that need replacing
Part by part
Grease filters
Filters need cleaning far more often than the duct, and a filter exchange service can take that off your hands. Keeping them clean helps the rest of the system stay cleaner.
Restaurant and pub kitchens
Restaurants and pubs tend to cook long hours with plenty of frying and grilling, so their cleaning interval is often 3 or 6 months under BESA guidance. Cleans are done after close, overnight or before opening.
What staff can safely do
Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
Signs you need kitchen extract cleaning
It’s common for parts of a duct to have been missed for years. Most of the time it’s because there were never enough access panels, so nobody could get to them. That hidden grease keeps building where nobody looks.
Any of these means the system needs a check-up:
- An overdue clean flagged by an EHO or fire officer
- Grease dripping from the canopy or filters
- Cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey
- A new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history
For landlords and multi-site operators
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.
HA3: your questions answered
Can you price the work without visiting?
Yes, if we can see what we need. Otherwise, we book a survey at a time that suits the site, then a fixed quote.
Are you a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member?
We are members of Vent Hygiene Elite, the scheme run by BESCA, and we clean to BESA TR19® Grease. We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 too, and we are fully insured.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, 24/7. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and the emergency line covers the rest.
What about areas you can’t get to?
We never leave them off the paperwork. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.
What do you do with what you remove?
Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. None of it is left on site.
What does kitchen extract cleaning cost?
Every site is different, so each gets its own fixed quote. To get one, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us with the site type, opening hours and a few photos.
Do you look at the system first?
Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your pictures and details, or with a visit where needed. A fixed quote follows.
