St Clement's extract fan cleaning
Our technicians work in St Clement's on extract fan cleaning. Out-of-hours visits, a fixed quote and a written report with pictures on every job.

About our extract fan cleaning in St Clement's
Any fan serving a kitchen in St Clement's is cleaned the same careful way as anywhere else: we isolate it, open the housing, scrape the impeller and degrease the lot. Your report shows the impeller as we found it and as we left it. If you’re dealing with a fan left out of previous cleans and fat spreading onto the roof or wall by the fan, we can help.
For a smaller kitchen near St Clement's, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.
We have been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What we do, step by step
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes an hour or two for most single fans. We plan the journey to St Clement's and bring what the job is likely to need.
- We find the fan and check how it’s reached and how it’s isolated.
- Power to the fan is isolated before anyone touches it.
- Grease is scraped from the impeller blades and the inside of the housing.
- We degrease the fan and housing, taking care around the motor.
- It’s closed up, run and checked, and pictures go into your report.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
Ask for a quote
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
Advice
Why deal with it now?
A greasy fan has to work harder to move the same air. Airflow at the canopy drops and the kitchen gets hotter and smokier, while the motor runs under more strain. You choose the date of a planned visit, and a breakdown never asks.
Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you’ll get one fixed quote.
Why St Clement's businesses choose us

Grease, kitchens and St Clement's
The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 367 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 48 takeaways within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of St Clement's. Each kitchen extract among them ends at a fan, and grease on the impeller strains the motor. Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service covers St Clement's. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. In St Clement's, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Oxford City council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as East Oxford Primary School or anywhere near St Clement's, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around St Clement's (Holywell Manor is about 0.5 miles north-west), fitting access panels needs care.

What a clean won’t put right
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- A dirty duct upstream of the fan
- A failed motor or worn bearings (that needs a fan repair or replacement)
- Wiring faults to the fan
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll tell you honestly.
What the work covers
- Axial fans
- Discharge points
- Roof-mounted fans
- In-line fans
- Fan housings
- Centrifugal fans
Part by part
Fan housings and motors
Inside the casing, grease is thrown onto the walls. We clean it along with the blades.
Impellers and blades
The impeller is the spinning part that moves the air, and grease builds up on them unevenly. That’s what unbalances the fan, so it’s cleaned carefully blade by blade.

How we price extract fan cleaning
Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- The number of sites or systems
- The condition of the system
- Site rules, permits and inductions
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.
Asking for a quote
When you call or email, these details help:
- Problems your staff have spotted
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
For extract fan cleaning in St Clement's, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email. Tell us what kind of premises it is and when it’s open, and send photos or your last report if you can. We usually send a fixed quote within one working day.
Questions from St Clement's
Who is the fire and rescue service for St Clement's?
St Clement's is in the area of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.
Will you come out to St Clement's?
Yes, St Clement's is part of our area, however small the site. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Are you accredited?
We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.
What about areas you can’t get to?
We record them on the report, with pictures where possible, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.
How long is a fan clean?
It takes an hour or two for one fan, longer when it’s hard to reach. Your quote will give an idea.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. We always survey first, either from photos and details you send or on a site visit. A fixed quote follows.
Do you offer extract fan cleaning separately?
Yes, a fan can be cleaned on its own. That helps when the fan needs attention before the next full clean, but it doesn’t replace a full TR19 clean.
Do you provide a report after cleaning the fan?
Every clean has a photo report, along with notes on the fan’s condition. For a full TR19 clean, you also get a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
Do you need extract fan cleaning in St Clement's?
How fast a fan gets greasy in St Clement's depends on the cooking: how many hours a day the kitchen runs and what it cooks. Under BESA guidance, the whole system, fan included, needs cleaning at least every 3, 6 or 12 months depending on daily hours.
Keep an eye out for these warning signs:
- Thick grease on the impeller and casing
- A fan motor running hot under a coat of grease
- Vibration from an unbalanced impeller
- Grease stains around the discharge
Church and community hall kitchens, near St Clement's Church or anywhere around St Clement's, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.
Comparing quotes
- How areas they cannot reach will be recorded
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
- What hours they’ll be on site
- How VAT is shown on the quote
Between visits
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:
- Look for grease stains near the discharge
- File the fan’s report with your other records
- Book the fan into every full TR19 clean
- Flag smoke lingering at the canopy
File the photo report with your other extract records. It gives a dated record of the fan’s condition, which helps if anything changes later.
A change in how the fan sounds is worth noting. Rattles, hums or shaking can be early signs of build-up or wear and early action can save a repair.
