TR19 inspection for sites in Cyprus

TR19 inspection in Cyprus

TR19® Grease says grease should not exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns or more at any point needs immediate spot cleaning. Grease testing shows which side of those lines you’re on. We’re often asked to deal with kitchens whose menu or hours have changed and systems that need surveying before cleaning, on post-clean checks, wet film thickness tests and insurer audits.

In a London area like Cyprus, a kitchen extract often passes through shared space on its way out: a riser, a service void, the floors above. Grease in a duct like that is a fire risk to the whole building, not just the kitchen, so a regular TR19® clean protects everyone in it.

Think of the report as the system’s health record: dated, with photos, and showing what was done. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.

If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.

What a clean will not put right

Not every problem is solved by TR19 inspection, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It does not solve:

  • Ductwork that was designed or installed badly
  • Fire safety duties beyond the extract system
  • Mechanical faults in the extract

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Cyprus questions

Who is the fire and rescue service for Cyprus?

It’s London Fire Brigade, which covers Cyprus. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.

Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Cyprus in the summer holidays?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. There are about 45 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Cyprus. Just phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

What is a WFTT or DTT grease test?

We measure the grease at set points with a WFTT or DTT test, and set against the TR19® Grease figures.

What do the grease readings need to be?

TR19® Grease says the mean shouldn’t exceed 200 microns between cleans, and anywhere at 500 microns or more needs spot cleaning right away.

How much does TR19 inspection cost?

We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how big it is, what state it’s in, how we reach it and the working hours. You get a fixed price before we start.

Which sectors do you work in?

Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, as well as food production and leisure sites.

How often should grease be tested?

We suggest a next test date in every report, based on the readings and how the kitchen is used. The interval should come from a competent person’s risk assessment backed by grease measurement.

What is post-clean verification?

Post-clean verification is a check after a clean, with fresh grease readings and photos. It can follow our own cleans or another contractor’s.

How it works

We’re used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. The visit itself takes anything from an hour for a small canopy and short duct to a good part of a day for a large site. In a London area like Cyprus, parking, loading and building access are planned before the day of the work.

  1. We agree a time when the kitchen is closed or quiet.
  2. We look over the canopy, plenum, ducts, fan and discharge.
  3. Grease readings are taken at set points using WFTT or DTT.
  4. We photograph the test points and record any sections we cannot reach.
  5. You get a report with readings, pictures and recommendations.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move anything stored near the system
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions

What affects the cost of TR19 inspection

You’ll get a fixed price before we start. It takes into account:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • The scale of the work
  • How many systems or sites are involved

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are unsure, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Asking for a quote

We can often survey from pictures. The most useful are:

  • A few general shots of the system
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

Want a quote for TR19 inspection? Please call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us about the site. We’ll explain what we’d do and send a fixed quote before you commit to anything.

TR19 inspection around Cyprus

Food Standards Agency records list about 207 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 104 takeaways within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Cyprus. Each kitchen extract among them can be measured for grease to set the right cleaning interval. In London, kitchens are typically cleaned overnight, when the kitchen is closed and loading is easier. Fire safety in Cyprus falls to London Fire Brigade. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.

Church and community hall kitchens, near St Michael and All Angels Church or anywhere around Cyprus, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Cyprus is Albert Dock Seamen's Hospital, about 1.1 miles west.

Cyprus is about 2 miles east of Canning Town, in Greater London. Every kind of commercial site in Cyprus, we can take on TR19 inspection. Visits can be booked for evenings, overnight or weekends so the site keeps running. Across Greater London, we cover 764 places, Cyprus among them. Our London page covers sites nearby (7 miles or so).

Every address in E6 and E16 is within our area for TR19 inspection, from busy streets to back roads. We cover sites on Strait Road, Harper Road and Trader Road and nearby roads. We also cover the places around Cyprus: Beckton (1 mile north-east), North Woolwich (1 mile south), Royal Docks (1 mile west), East Ham (1 mile north) and Custom House (1 mile west). Larger places within reach include London (7 miles west), City of Westminster (9 miles west), Marylebone (9 miles west), Kensington (11 miles west), St Pancras (8 miles west) and Shoreditch (6 miles west).

What’s near Cyprus

Around Cyprus, our work takes us to kitchens and buildings near Oasis Academy Silvertown, London Design and Engineering UTC and Beckton District Park and the streets around them. Cyprus’s nearest station is Woolwich station, roughly 1.3 miles south. A little further out are Greenwich Castle (3.6 miles south-west) and Albert Dock Seamen's Hospital (1.1 miles west). For a walk, there’s Gilbert's Pit.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and give you a fixed quote.

If a run has no access panel, we note it so panels can be added.

Do you need TR19 inspection in Cyprus?

Insurers, fire officers and environmental health officers look to TR19® as the benchmark. It isn’t legislation; the legal duty comes from the Fire Safety Order 2005, under which the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and in a kitchen that means keeping grease under control.

The symptoms we’re asked about most are:

  • Systems that need surveying before cleaning
  • Extracts that may be over the 200 micron mean
  • Post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean
  • Sites with gaps in their extract records

Eastbury Manor House, about 2.3 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses near Cyprus; if you run event catering at a venue like that, cleans can be booked between functions.
