Why act early in Little Portugal
Catching heavy deposits early keeps the fix small. Ignored, the layer only gets thicker. A busy site in Little Portugal builds up dirt and wear quickly, so putting it off makes the eventual job larger.
Every site is different, so we price each one individually. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

TR19 inspection in Little Portugal
A pre-clean survey is the diagnosis, and the clean is the treatment. We look at the system, take grease readings and photograph what we find, so the clean can be planned properly. The work covers post-clean checks, access surveys and pre-clean surveys, and people most often call us about kitchens whose menu or hours have changed and kitchen extract systems with no recent grease readings.
In London, few kitchens can spare a day to close, so work in Little Portugal is normally booked for the night or the early hours. Before the clean, we agree loading, parking and roof access with whoever manages the building.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Keeping the system healthy
Once we have finished, these simple steps help:
- Keep to the recommended interval
- Keep the route to access panels clear
- File every inspection report with your certificates
- Look out for grease drips round the canopy edge
Any access problems we found are listed with a suggested fix. With panels fitted, the next clean can cover every section.
Test grease regularly instead of relying on the calendar. It spots changes in how fast grease builds.

What else we do in Little Portugal
What staff can safely do
Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. That’s our job.
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
What we are called out for in Little Portugal
Some parts of a system are hard to reach, and grease can be missed there clean after clean. A survey finds the sections that cannot be reached, so the gaps can be closed.
Most sites get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Missing TR19 certificates or history
- An insurer’s request for a TR19 audit
- Kitchens whose menu or hours have changed
- Systems cleaned on a calendar with no measurements
Where a hall near St Stephen's Church, or anywhere in Little Portugal, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does.
What your quote should include
- What paperwork you get at the end
- Proof of insurance
- Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
What a clean will not put right
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work won’t fix:
- The responsible person’s own fire risk assessment
- Removing the grease, which is a separate clean
- Fan breakdowns, which need a repair visit
If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll say what we think before you book.
What the work covers
- Deposit thickness tests
- Insurer audits
- Pre-clean surveys
- Post-clean checks
- Access surveys
- Wet film thickness tests
What happens on the day
Your staff don’t need to do much on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and we take it from there. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. A name and number for whoever controls access to the building in Little Portugal saves time on the night.
- After the clean, we arrange a time to check the system.
- We open the access points used on the clean.
- Grease readings are taken again at set points.
- We photograph each area to record how it was left.
- The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.
How to prepare
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Move anything stored near the system
How to get a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
Advice
What affects the cost of TR19 inspection
The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- Parking and loading at the site
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
We don’t list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, and we will talk you through it.
Helping us quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- A few general shots of the system
- The postcode and the type of business
There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.

By covering it before any work starts. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.
Where does the waste go?
It leaves the site with us when we go. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.
