Kitchen extract cleaning in TW1: how it works

Many insurers ask for proof that the extract has been cleaned to TR19, and a claim can be refused or reduced without it. For a kitchen in TW1, our certificate and photo report give you that record for the maintenance log. Common call-outs are for an overdue clean flagged by an EHO or fire officer and cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey, on horizontal duct runs, canopies and hoods and vertical risers.

Our technicians bring everything the work needs, including protection sheets, the right tools and access kit. All we need from you is clear access and the right equipment switched off. On site, the work takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the system and how it’s reached.
  2. Grease readings set the baseline, and a fixed quote follows.
  3. We arrive after close, protect the area and contain the waste.
  4. The treatment: heavy grease scraped out, then every part degreased to TR19® Grease.
  5. Then the clean bill of health: readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next date.

Kitchen extracts across TW1

Our kitchen extract cleaning work across TW1 takes in places such as Twickenham, Richmond and Richmond upon Thames and the villages in between. We cover every place we list for TW1, 11 in all, and kitchens are cleaned around their opening hours, overnight and at weekends included.

Across London and the South East, we work evenings, overnight and weekends, so sites in TW1 can keep trading.

Twickenham: If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as St Richard Reynolds Catholic Primary School or anywhere near Twickenham, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. A kitchen near Twickenham station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval.

What kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Fat blocking the kitchen drains
  • A broken extract fan that won’t run
  • Ductwork that is corroded, split or leaking (that’s for a ductwork contractor)

What the work involves, part by part

Grease filters

Gaps around filters let fat through to the duct. We check they fit as they should when we refit them, and flag any that do not.

Schools, hospitals and care homes

School, hospital and care home kitchens often have fixed hours and long holidays, so cleans can be booked when the kitchen is closed. The certificate and report suit estates and compliance files.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning

The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • The size of the system
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before we start.

Asking for a quote

To speed up the quote, send us:

  • The postcode and the type of business
  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work, before work begins.

Between visits

Aftercare is simple, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Keep the TR19 certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
  • Never cook with filters missing or out of place
  • Keep the extract on whenever the range is lit
  • Wipe the canopy down at the end of each day

The certificate records when the clean was done, where and by whom. File it with the fire risk assessment and the maintenance log so it’s ready when anyone asks to see it.

Keep the outside of the canopy wiped and any grease cups emptied. A daily wipe isn’t a deep clean, but it helps between visits.

TW1 questions

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, and the emergency line covers the rest.

Will my insurer ask for a TR19 certificate?

Extract grease is fuel for a kitchen fire, so many insurers want evidence it’s being cleaned to TR19. Our certificate and photo report give you that evidence.

Do you work in TW1?

Yes. TW1 is part of the area we cover, as part of our area across London and the South East.

How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost in TW1?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: the size of the system, its condition, access and when we can work. We fix the price before any work starts.

What about areas you cannot get to?

The report shows them clearly. Often the fix is extra access, such as new panels in ductwork, and we can fit those.

Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?

The clean is done when the kitchen isn’t cooking, working evenings, overnight or at weekends to suit you. Equipment needs to be off and cool before any work starts.

What accreditations do you hold?

Our work is to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, with certificates issued through the BESCA portal. Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009.
