Kitchen extract cleaning in DA17: how it works
Has the extract gone a while without a clean, or has the paperwork gone missing? Send a few pictures of the canopy and filters when you phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and you’ll have a fixed quote for kitchen extract cleaning in DA17, typically within one working day. The work covers plenums and filters, vertical risers and horizontal duct runs, and common reasons people get in touch are fat running down the canopy edge and heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs.
We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before any work starts, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits.
- We survey the system, from your photos or on site, canopy to discharge.
- Grease thickness is measured and the price is fixed before work starts.
- On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
- Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.
Pricing in DA17
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you are unsure, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Around Belvedere
We work in commercial kitchens and buildings around Trinity Church of England School, Parish Church of All Saints and Trinity School and the streets around them. Kitchen extracts across DA17
In DA17, we work in places such as Erith, Belvedere and Lessness Heath and well beyond. We cover every place we list for DA17, 3 in all, and kitchens are cleaned around their opening hours, overnight and at weekends included.
From central London kitchens to coastal hotels and country pubs, London and the South East have every kind of site. Wherever the site is in DA17, the work is done to the same TR19® standard.
Belvedere: Bursars and site managers at schools such as Lessness Heath Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Erith and District Hospital (about 0.8 miles south-east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.
For landlords and multi-site operators
From a single site to a large estate, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.
Honest limits
In fairness, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- Damaged duct sections that need replacing
- A canopy that’s too small or a system that was badly designed
- Blocked drains from a neglected grease trap (a separate service)
Keeping the system healthy
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. A few tips:
- Flag any change in how the extract sounds or works
- Run the extract fan throughout cooking
- Keep grease collection points emptied
- Keep the cleaning records where you can find them
When the clean is finished, grease readings are taken again at the same points, giving you before and after readings alongside the photos. Your TR19 certificate is then issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
Wipe the canopy down regularly and empty grease troughs or collection points. It will not replace a TR19 clean, but it slows what reaches the duct.
Different parts, different methods
Ductwork and risers
Risers take the extract up through floors to roof level, and grease runs down their walls and pools at the base. Access panels along the riser let us clean it in sections.
Grease filters
Between TR19 cleans, filters still need regular cleaning, and a filter exchange service can take that off your hands. Keeping them clean helps the rest of the system stay cleaner.
What your team can do, and what needs us
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that’s where we come in.
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.
FAQs for DA17
Can you price the work without visiting?
Yes, if we can see what we need. Otherwise, we book a survey at a time that suits the site, then a fixed quote.
Will I get a certificate after the clean?
A TR19 certificate and a photo report. The certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, and the report includes before and after photos, grease readings and the recommended next clean date.
What do you need from me for a quote?
The site address, the type of premises and your opening hours, plus pictures of the system and your last certificate or report if you have one.
Is DA17 in your area?
Yes. DA17 is part of the area we cover, within the South East and London area we cover.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. For many sites, pictures and a few details are enough, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.
How do you keep the site clean during the work?
With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.
What’s TR19?
TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.
