About kitchen extract cleaning in BH24
Duct Doctor has been cleaning kitchen extract systems since 2009. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, we clean to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. The work covers horizontal duct runs, discharge points and plenums and filters, and the jobs we see most are poor airflow at the canopy and fat running down the canopy edge.
Your trading hours come first. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes a single shift for most kitchens, with long duct runs and tall risers needing more time.
- We start with a survey, so we know every part of the system before we quote.
- Grease readings are taken at set points and you get a fixed quote.
- Once the kitchen has closed and the equipment has cooled, we sheet and protect the area.
- We clean the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- Finally the system is re-tested and photographed, and the certificate and report follow.
How we quote
One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before any work starts.
What you get with us
- Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line
- Fixed quotes, usually within one working day
- Every job surveyed first
- Accredited under CHAS and SafeContractor, with ISO 9001
How to get a quote
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
Near you in Ringwood
Locally, jobs take us to businesses close to The Lamb Inn, Ringwood Church of England Infant School and Ringwood Waldorf School, among other places. You’ll also find Avon Heath Country Park (2 miles south-west), Ringwood School (less than half a mile north-west) and Trinity Congregational Church (under half a mile south-west). Nearby you’ll also find St Leonard's Hospital (3.9 miles south-west). For a walk, there’s Blashford Lakes and Linbrook Lake.
Kitchen extracts across BH24
From Ringwood, St Leonards and Poulner to its smaller places, BH24 has kitchens of every size. Every one gets the same full TR19® clean, from the canopy to the discharge.
From central London kitchens to coastal hotels and country pubs, London and the South East have every kind of site. Wherever the site is in BH24, the work is done to the same TR19® standard.
Ringwood: Where a hall near Trinity Congregational Church, or anywhere in Ringwood, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like St Leonard's Hospital about 3.9 miles south-west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.
Honest limits
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Fire dampers that will not close (that needs damper testing and remedials)
- A fan motor that has burnt out
- Blocked drains from a neglected grease trap (a separate service)
Why it fails
We often find duct sections that haven’t been cleaned since they were installed. The usual reason is a lack of access panels, so nobody could get to them. That hidden grease keeps building where nobody looks.
Common reasons sites call us are:
- Grease drips onto cooking equipment
- An inspection that picked up a dirty extract
- Proof of cleaning requested by an insurer
- Heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs
Aftercare tips
How long the results last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Keep the baffle filters clean
- Run the extract fan throughout cooking
- Keep to the recommended cleaning interval
- Tell us when the extract starts to drip or smell
You get a photo report after every clean. It shows the system before and after, part by part, alongside a list of what was cleaned, anything out of reach and the recommended next clean date.
Book the next clean before the last one runs out. If the kitchen starts cooking longer hours, the interval should be looked at again, and grease readings will show it.
What your team can do, and what needs us
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.
If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
Leave it or put it right?
Grease that is left only gets thicker. BESA guidance says the mean should not go above 200 microns between cleans, and anywhere reaching 500 microns or more needs a spot clean straight away. The longer it’s left, the bigger the job becomes.

Your questions about kitchen extract cleaning in BH24
What accreditations do you hold?
Our work is to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, and certificates go through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.
Which parts of the extract do you clean?
We clean every part the grease travels through. Canopy, plenum, filters, ductwork, risers, fan and discharge are all included, reached through access panels where needed.
What if parts of the system cannot be reached?
We never leave them off the paperwork. You will know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
Strictly, the legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, not from TR19. TR19 is the industry benchmark for meeting that duty in a kitchen extract, and an insurer may refuse or reduce a claim without it.
What do I get after the clean?
A TR19 certificate, plus a full photo report. The report lists what was cleaned, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next clean is due.
Is BH24 in your area?
Yes. We work in BH24 and the rest of Hampshire, within our South East and London area. To book, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
