Kitchen extract cleaning in Cyprus

Cyprus kitchens: local notes

The FSA’s data shows about 22 pubs and bars and about 16 hotels and guest houses registered within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Cyprus. Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. London jobs typically start after the last service, with loading and roof access agreed with the building first. Kitchens in Cyprus get their food hygiene inspections from Newham council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.

A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near St Michael and All Angels Church or elsewhere in Cyprus, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Albert Dock Seamen's Hospital about 1.1 miles west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Eastbury Manor House is about 2.3 miles north-east), access may need planning.

Cyprus is about 2 miles east of Canning Town, in Greater London. Cyprus gets the same approach as every site we work on: a survey first, a fixed quote, work timed around your hours and a report with pictures. Cyprus is one of 764 places in Greater London we cover for kitchen extract cleaning. You can also see our page for London, roughly 7 miles from Cyprus.

Kitchen extract cleaning in Cyprus, done properly

Not sure when the extract was last cleaned, or by whom? Send a few pictures of the canopy and filters when you give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos, and we will come back with a fixed price for the work in Cyprus, usually within one working day. We are often asked to deal with proof of cleaning requested by an insurer and grease dripping from the canopy or filters, on extract fans, discharge points and canopies and hoods. Some call it canopy cleaning, others extract cleaning or duct cleaning, but a proper TR19® clean in Cyprus covers all of it, from the hood to the fan.

Kitchens that fry and grill hardest need the most frequent cleans, so we look at the menu as well as the opening hours when we suggest the next date.

London kitchens are often tucked into basements or the back of a building, and the duct may run up through several floors before it discharges at the roof. In Cyprus, as elsewhere in the capital, a long duct run means more access points to open and more grease to remove.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • A broken extract fan that will not run
  • Blocked drains from a neglected grease trap (a separate service)
  • An undersized canopy or fan

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Plenums and filters
  • Discharge points
  • Canopies and hoods
  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Vertical risers
  • Extract fans

What your team can do, and what needs us

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

What the work involves, part by part

Grease filters

Gaps around filters let fat through to the duct. Each filter is checked as it goes back in, and flag any that don’t.

Restaurant and pub kitchens

Losing a service is not an option for most restaurants and pubs. We work overnight and at weekends where that suits, and hand back a clean kitchen ready to cook.

The process

A visit follows the same order every time: sheeting and protection first, make the system safe, carry out the kitchen extract cleaning, clear away and leave you the report. The visit itself takes one visit for most kitchens, while large or complex systems may need more than one. Getting kit into a London building takes planning, so let us know where we can load and park in Cyprus.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the whole system and its access points.
  2. Grease readings set the baseline, and a fixed quote follows.
  3. After the kitchen closes, we sheet the area and set up to contain grease and water.
  4. Heavy deposits are scraped by hand and the system degreased to TR19® Grease.
  5. Then the clean bill of health: readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next date.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions

Getting a quote

Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your photos and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before we start.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Wash or exchange the filters often
  • Never cook with filters missing or out of place
  • Run the extract fan throughout cooking
  • Report grease drips, smells or fan noise right away

Every clean ends with a photo report. Before and after pictures show each part of the system, and lists what was cleaned, any areas we couldn’t reach and the date the next clean is due.

Report drips, smells or a noisy fan early. Drips, odours and fan noise often mean grease is building, and a grease thickness test can confirm it.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Cyprus

The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.

If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.

Your questions about kitchen extract cleaning in Cyprus

Can you come to Cyprus after we close?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. It means the site in Cyprus keeps running as normal. When you call 0345 646 2711, or email photos, mention when the site is quiet.

Can school kitchens in Cyprus be cleaned in the holidays?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. Around Cyprus, the Food Standards Agency lists about 45 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.

Do I have to clean my extract to TR19 by law?

The legal duty sits in the Fire Safety Order 2005 rather than in TR19 itself. TR19 is the industry benchmark for meeting that duty in a kitchen extract, and an insurer may refuse or reduce a claim without it.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line, for problems that can’t wait. Call us any time and explain what’s happened.

How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost in Cyprus?

Size, condition, access and working hours all affect the cost. Ask us for a fixed quote and we will usually reply within one working day.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together as one programme. Each site gets its own report and photos.

How far ahead should we book?

Book as early as you can for planned work, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your pictures and details, or with a visit where needed. A fixed quote follows.

What affects the quote in Cyprus

Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • The times the site is available
  • The scale of the work
  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • A single visit or a regular plan

We don’t list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and we will talk you through it.

Helping us quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • A few general shots of the system
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • Any previous report or certificate

Need a price for kitchen extract cleaning? Please phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and tell us about the site. We will explain what we’d do and send a fixed quote before anything is booked.
