About our grease trap cleaning in Cyprus

If the sinks drain slowly or smell, the trap is often the cause. We find the trap, empty it and clean it and run water through to check it drains. The work covers under-sink grease traps, school and care home kitchens and restaurants and takeaways, and the jobs we see most are a slow-draining kitchen sink and an under-sink unit that needs regular emptying.

Fat, oil and grease poured down drains helps form fatbergs, and London’s sewers have made the news for them more than once. A grease trap that’s emptied and cleaned regularly keeps fat out of the drains.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

Fixed quotes for grease trap cleaning in Cyprus

Sites vary more than people expect. The main factors:

  • The scale of the work
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • The condition of the system
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

Asking for a quote

Many jobs can be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:

  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Any previous report or certificate

There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To get going, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.

What grease trap cleaning cannot fix

Not every problem is solved by grease trap cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
  • Broken pipework below ground
  • Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor

If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will say what we think.

What the work covers

  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Kitchen waste pipes

Part by part

Under-sink grease traps

We empty and clean under-sink traps without disrupting the rest of the kitchen and check the seal on the lid.

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

Kitchens that fry and wash up all day fill their traps quickly. A shorter cleaning interval normally suits them.

What happens on the day

The visit has three parts: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. The middle part takes longest, and that takes less than an hour for many under-sink units. Loading bays, visitor permits and roof access are the first things we ask about for a site in Cyprus.

  1. First, we find the trap and look at its connections.
  2. We make sure nothing drains into the trap.
  3. Grease and solids are removed from the trap.
  4. We clean every part of the inside.
  5. The trap is refitted, tested with water and the waste taken away.

Before we arrive

  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
  • Clear loose items from the work area
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

Questions from Cyprus

Can you work in school kitchens in Cyprus during the holidays?

Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. With about 45 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Cyprus, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Just ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

Can you work in Cyprus outside opening hours?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. It means the site in Cyprus keeps running as normal. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Is TR19 cleaning required by law?

No. The law sets the duty; TR19® is the benchmark used to show it’s met. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and without records, many insurers may refuse or reduce a claim.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

The law calls them the responsible person. That is generally the employer or the person in control of the premises, and in shared buildings more than one person can have duties. If you’re not sure, check your lease and fire risk assessment.

Do you cover Cyprus?

Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and that includes Cyprus.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule with a fixed quote.

Which records should we keep?

Everything that shows the system is looked after: reports, certificates, pictures and your own cleaning or check logs. A single log for each site works best.

What do you do to protect the area?

With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. We keep the work contained and leave the area clean.

Cyprus kitchens: local notes

The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 5 food manufacturers and packers in Cyprus and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Where food is made in quantity, grease traps fill faster and need a tighter schedule. Kitchens in Cyprus get their food hygiene inspections from Newham council. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. Having the dates of the last deep clean to hand saves digging for them on the day. In London, deep cleans and grease trap work are usually done overnight, so the kitchen opens as normal the next day.

If you cater for weddings or events at a historic house in the area (Eastbury Manor House is about 2.3 miles north-east), deep cleans can be fitted between bookings. If you look after a hall kitchen near St Michael and All Angels Church or anywhere in Cyprus, a deep clean between busy seasons is easier than a scramble before a big event.

When to call us in Cyprus

For a kitchen in Cyprus or anywhere else, the trap is out of sight and out of mind. Hidden under a sink or in a floor, it’s often ignored until something goes wrong.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • Foul odours from the grease trap
  • Gurgling from the sink waste
  • An inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning
  • An under-sink unit that needs regular emptying

School kitchens, at schools like Winsor Primary School for example, normally have their deep cleans and grease trap work done while the canteen is closed.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What hours they’ll be on site
  • Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
  • What paperwork you get at the end
  • Whether the quote shows VAT

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Act on gurgling or smelly drains
  • Keep the grease trap on a regular cleaning schedule
  • Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
  • Keep waste oil out of the drains

Collect waste cooking oil separately rather than pouring it down the sink, and the trap will stay cleaner for longer. It’s the single easiest way to help.

An overfull trap lets grease pass. Cleaning it before it’s full keeps grease out of the drains and avoids a blockage.
