Grease Filter Exchange in Ower
Grease filter exchange for Ower, from a team that has been trading since 2009. Out-of-hours visits and 24/7 emergency callout.
- Grease dripping from the canopy
- Filters so greasy the air can barely pass
- Filters that come out of the sink still dirty
How we handle grease filter exchange in Ower
The filters in the canopy are the first thing cooking vapour meets. Their job is to stop grease getting further into the system, but only while they’re reasonably clean. Our grease filter exchange service swaps dirty filters for clean ones on a schedule. Typical jobs include a greasy plenum behind the filters and a canopy that drips grease, on island canopies, wall canopies and school and hospital kitchens.
For a kitchen in or near Ower, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

How the visit works
There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. Most of the time goes on the work itself, and that takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. The timing of a visit to Ower is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.
- We count and measure the filters in every canopy.
- Together we set how often the filters should be changed.
- On each visit, the dirty filters come out of the canopy.
- Clean, dry filters are fitted in their place, with no gaps left between them.
- We flag any damaged filters or anything wrong with the canopy.
Before we arrive
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
Ask for a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
Advice
When to call us in Ower
Filters get bent and damaged with handling. Damaged filters do not sit flush and grease passes round them.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Poor airflow through the filters
- Filters left unwashed on busy weeks
- Drips falling from the filters onto equipment
- Missing filters in the filter bank
If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Landford Manor is about 4.6 miles north-west), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning.
What your quote should include
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- Whether a written report and photos are included
- What happens if part of the system can’t be accessed
- Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so each one has its own record.
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed quote.

Common questions in Ower
Can a school canteen extract in Ower be done out of term time?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. Food Standards Agency records list about 3 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Ower. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.
Who is the fire and rescue service for Ower?
It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Ower. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We carry full insurance, and we’ve been trading since 2009.
How long will you be on site?
On site, it takes less than an hour in most kitchens. Larger systems naturally take longer, and the quote will say how long.
What types of filter do you exchange?
Baffle and mesh filters are both covered. We check what’s in your canopies first and plan the exchange around them.
Does the report say when we need you again?
Yes. The report recommends when the next visit should be, based on what we found and how the system is used.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. We work across South East England and London, so sites at different addresses can be planned together on one programme. Every site has its own report.
Which sectors do you work in?
Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, as well as food production and leisure sites.
Aftercare tips
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:
- Report damaged filters so they can be replaced
- Never leave gaps in the filter bank
- Mention it if the kitchen gets busier
- Watch for grease drips between visits
Once the clean filters are in, the kitchen can cook straight away. We take the greasy filters with us to be cleaned.
If filters are already dripping, they’re overdue. Changing them now reduces the fuel above the cooking, and it’s worth checking the plenum too.
What affects the cost of grease filter exchange
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Helping us quote
When you contact us, it’s useful to have:
- The postcode and the type of business
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, photos of the system and any previous report or certificate. Then call 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. What a clean will not put right
We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- Grease behind the filters that a swap can’t remove
- Greasy ducts and risers that a filter change won’t reach
- A canopy too small for the cooking beneath it
Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll tell you honestly.
