Grease filter exchange for sites in Winsor

Grease filter exchange in Winsor

The filters in the canopy are the first thing cooking vapour meets. Their job is to stop grease getting further into the system and they do it best when they’re clean. Our grease filter exchange service swaps dirty filters for clean ones on a schedule. The work covers wall canopies, restaurants and pubs and mesh filters, and people most often call us about grease filters clogged with grease and grease collecting in the filter channels.

Somewhere as small as Winsor, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.

Each visit ends with a written report and photos, so you have a record of what was done and when. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Why deal with it now?

A filter exchange is a few minutes; a choked extract affects a whole service. It’s one of the simplest parts of looking after the system, and one of the easiest to let slip. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.

Working hours, access and the scale of the site all affect the cost. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Questions from Winsor

Do you work at weekends in Winsor?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Winsor doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.

Can you get to a site in Winsor?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Winsor included. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Can damaged filters stay in the canopy?

We check every filter at each visit. We tell you about any that are damaged since a poor fit lets grease past.

Does the law say we must follow TR19?

No. TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19® is the recognised way to show grease is under control.

How often should grease filters be changed?

The right interval depends on the kitchen. If filters are dripping or clogging before the next change, it’s too long and we will adjust it.

Do I get a report after the visit?

Yes. You get a written report with photos after every visit, showing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Kitchen extract cleans to TR19® Grease also get a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What paperwork should we keep on file?

The reports and certificates from each visit, plus your own logs. They’re what an insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask for, so keep them together and easy to find.

Do you clean filters as well as exchanging them?

Yes, filter cleaning is available. The first step is looking at the filters you have because bent or damaged ones may need replacing.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

Managing agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed quote.

What grease filter exchange looks like in Winsor

According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 7 pubs, bars and clubs in Winsor and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. Food hygiene inspections in Winsor are the job of New Forest council’s environmental health team. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready. The fire and rescue service for Winsor is Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.

Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Winsor is Tatchbury Mount Hospital, about 1 mile east. For schools such as Copythorne CofE Infant School, kitchen extract cleaning is usually booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.

How the visit works

At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and it goes on the report too. All told, the work takes a short visit, depending on how many filters the canopies hold. For a village or hamlet like Winsor, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.

  1. First, we check the canopies and the filters in them.
  2. We note any filters that are bent, damaged or missing.
  3. Greasy filters are swapped for clean ones.
  4. We check the filters are seated and the canopy is ready to use.
  5. We tell you if the plenum or canopy needs a clean.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

Ask for a quote

For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. We normally come back within one working day.

Advice

Different parts, different methods

The plenum

Heavy grease in the plenum often follows clogged or missing filters or that the next TR19 clean is due.

School, care home and staff kitchens

Kitchens that cook for set mealtimes still load their filters, though often more slowly.

Do you need grease filter exchange in Winsor?

Hand-washed filters often come back still greasy. Grease lodges deep in baffles and mesh, and a quick rinse leaves it there.

If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:

  • Grease filters clogged with grease
  • Missing filters in the filter bank
  • Filters left unwashed on busy weeks
  • Smoke and heat lingering under the hood

Where a hall near Church of St Mary, or anywhere in Winsor, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does.

What to look for in a quote

  • When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
  • Whether the figure could change on the day
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • When the next visit should be, and why

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

Between visits

Simple habits between visits make a real difference. Our advice:

  • Don’t let the full clean slip because filters are changed
  • Report a dripping canopy early
  • Wipe the outside of the canopy as part of daily cleaning
  • Tell us if the menu or opening hours change

Fresh filters improve airflow at the canopy from the moment they’re fitted. Always run the extract during cooking so they catch grease as intended.

Bent or missing filters let grease straight past. Replacing them early protects the plenum and ductwork.
