Forest Row ductwork cleaning
Ductwork cleaning for Forest Row, from a team that has been trading since 2009. Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus a 24/7 emergency line.
- A rancid smell from the extract duct
- Sections of duct with no access panels
- Hardened, baked-on grease in long horizontal runs
About our ductwork cleaning in Forest Row
The ductwork is where an extract clean is won or lost. Without enough access panels, long stretches can go years without being touched. We open up every reachable section and record any we cannot reach, so you know exactly where you stand. If you have hardened, baked-on grease in long horizontal runs and stale grease odours from the duct, we can put it right, from bends and junctions, vertical risers and access panels onwards.
For a smaller kitchen near Forest Row, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. We plan the visit around your hours, with the journey sorted in advance.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Forest Row kitchens: local notes
There are about 17 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 4 takeaways across Forest Row and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half), according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Wherever those kitchens cook under a canopy, the horizontal runs and risers need cleaning as well as the hood. Kitchens in Forest Row get their food hygiene inspections from Wealden council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. The fire and rescue service for Forest Row is East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.
Standen, about 2.3 miles west, is one of the historic houses near Forest Row; if you run event catering at a venue like that, cleans can be booked between functions. Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Forest Row is Queen Victoria Hospital, about 3.2 miles north-west. Bursars and site managers at schools such as Forest Row Church of England Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty.

Forest Row: your questions answered
Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Forest Row in the summer holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. There are about 5 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Forest Row. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.
Which environmental health team covers Forest Row?
The local authority for Forest Row is Wealden council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.
What types of premises do you cover?
All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. Work is timed around how each site runs.
Will I get a report after the ducts are cleaned?
A photo report, with readings and before and after pictures, plus a TR19 certificate for a full system clean. It also gives a recommended next clean date.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, with the emergency line covering every other hour.
What if parts of the system can’t be reached?
Anything we can’t reach goes on the report, with photos where possible, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.
Do you install duct access panels?
Yes, as part of our fits and repairs work. Panels go where they give the best access to sections that couldn’t be reached, and we’ll recommend where.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. Every job is surveyed first, either from photos and details you send or on a site visit. Then you get a fixed quote.

Bends and transitions
The join where the canopy meets the duct is a common hotspot. We clean it from the canopy side or through a nearby panel.
Vertical risers
A riser takes the duct up through one or more floors. Grease collects on the walls and at the foot of the riser, so the base is one of our test points.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.
What happens if it’s left?
Grease left in a duct in Forest Row hardens over time. It bakes into a hard layer that takes far longer to remove, so the later the clean, the bigger the job. In a smaller place like Forest Row, a site that has to close is felt quickly.
Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all play a part.

Between visits
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. A few tips:
- Keep your cleaning records together
- Tell us if grease leaks from the ductwork
- Do not switch the extract off early
- Keep to the interval on the report
File the paperwork in the maintenance log. An insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask to see it, and the photos make the duct’s condition easy to see.
Extra access panels mean more of the duct gets cleaned each time. It doesn’t stop grease forming, but it stops it building unseen.
When something else is needed
Ductwork cleaning cannot fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. It won’t put right:
- Undersized or badly laid-out ducts
- Leaking duct joints that need repair
- A failed fan motor at the end of the duct (a fan repair job)
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Fixed quotes for ductwork cleaning in Forest Row
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- How big the system is
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- What state the system is in
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before we start.
What to send for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before work begins.
What we do, step by step
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes anything from a few hours to several visits, depending on the length of duct. In a smaller place like Forest Row, parking is rarely the issue, but tell us about gates, roof access and opening hours.
- First we diagnose: the route, the access and the grease levels.
- You get a fixed price before work starts.
- Each section is cleaned in turn through its access panel.
- Bends, risers and the base of each riser get extra attention.
- The duct is signed off with readings, pictures and a next clean date.
How to prepare
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Let us know about parking and loading
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
How to get a quote
Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Send a few details and photos, and we typically reply with a fixed quote within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.
