Canopy and hood cleaning in North End, Greater London
Our technicians work in North End on deep cleaning of kitchen canopies, hoods, plenums and grease filters, inside and out. Fixed quotes, work around your opening hours and photo reports on every job.
- Condensation running down the canopy
- A hood coated in old grease
- Canopy gutters full of old fat
Multi-site and managed buildings
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.
Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in North End
We’ve been cleaning kitchen canopies since we started trading in 2009. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. The work covers baffle filters, canopy light fittings and plenum chambers, and the jobs we see most are filters that never seem to stay clean and smoke hanging around the canopy during service.
Across London, many commercial kitchens are squeezed into basements and narrow back-of-house spaces, and the duct may run up through several floors before it discharges at the roof. In North End, as elsewhere in the capital, a long duct run means more access points to open and more grease to remove.
Think of the report as the system’s health record: a dated account with pictures of everything we did. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal, ready for your insurer.

Honest limits
Canopy cleaning cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:
- Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)
- Weak extraction caused by a failing fan motor
- Bent or broken filters
Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

- Canopy light fittings
- Baffle filters
- Island canopies
- Plenum chambers
- Grease gutters
- Wall canopies
Leave it or put it right?
Grease dripping from the hood can fall onto food, pans and worktops. That’s a hygiene problem as well as a fire one, and EHOs look at the cleanliness of the premises and equipment. Shared walls, risers and roofs mean a problem at one London site seldom stays put.
What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why we survey first, from photos or on site, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.

The process
The visit has three parts: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and photos. Most of the time goes on the work itself, and that takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up. Most London sites cannot stop for the day, so work in North End is normally done overnight, early in the morning or at weekends.
- We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
- Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
- We lift out the filters and scrape the plenum and housing.
- Inside and out, the hood and its troughs are cleaned.
- We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.
How to prepare
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

Do you need canopy cleaning in North End?
Any canopy in North End that’s used for cooking will gather grease in the end. That grease is fuel sitting right above the heat, which is why a flare-up near a dirty canopy is so dangerous.
The symptoms we’re asked about most include:
- Condensation and grease dripping together
- Filters that never seem to stay clean
- Poor capture at the hood
- A filter housing caked in grease
If you cook for passing trade around Slade Green station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer.
What your quote should include
- If they look at the system before pricing
- Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
- Whether they recommend a next date
FAQs for North End
Can parking be tricky for a job in North End?
We plan it in advance, so let us know about loading bays, permits and access rules at the building. Night visits tend to make loading easier on London streets.
Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in North End?
North End is in the area of London Fire Brigade. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.
Will I get a report after the canopy clean?
Before and after photos go into a report, listing what was cleaned. Where the whole system is cleaned, you also get a TR19 certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
Do you work in North End?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of South East England, and that includes North End.
Do you clean inside the canopy as well as outside?
All of it: the outer surfaces, the inner skin, the seams and the troughs. The plenum behind the filters is included, since that is where grease hides.
Is canopy cleaning enough for TR19?
A canopy-only clean is possible, but it isn’t a full TR19 clean. For TR19, the whole system needs cleaning, at intervals set by BESA guidance.
How much notice do you need?
That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
Why is my canopy dripping grease?
Typically because the troughs or gutters are full, or the plenum is overloaded. Grease has nowhere else to go, so it runs down and drips, and condensation can carry it too. A canopy clean sorts it out.
Fixed quotes for canopy cleaning in North End
The survey tells us what the work involves. We look at:
- Travel, parking and unloading
- The number of sites or systems
- The scale of the work
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
You won’t find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.
What we need to know
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Any previous report or certificate
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
Part by part
Wall canopies
At the back of the canopy, behind the filters, grease builds up unseen. With the filters out we can get to it and degrease it properly.
Plenums and filter housings
Filter housings hold the filters in place, and their channels fill with grease. We clean them so the filters sit tight and leave no gaps.
