Euston canopy cleaning
Canopy cleaning for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Euston. BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease.
- A filter housing caked in grease
- Grease dripping from the canopy edge
- Filters that clog soon after cleaning
About our canopy cleaning in Euston
A greasy canopy tells an inspector a lot before they’ve opened anything. What is not seen, behind the filters, tends to be worse. Canopy cleaning deals with both, so the hood looks right and works properly. If you have drips from the canopy onto the range and filters that clog soon after cleaning, we can help, from baffle filters, island canopies and plenum chambers onwards.
London kitchens tend to trade late and open early, so work in Euston is normally booked for the night or the early hours. Before the clean, we agree loading, parking and roof access with whoever manages the building.
We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

Part by part
Grease troughs and gutters
A blocked or full trough is the usual cause of grease dripping from the canopy. Cleaning it clears the drip.
Island canopies
With filters on more than one side, an island canopy has more plenum to clean. We work round the canopy, cleaning each filter bank and plenum.

Canopy cleaning around Euston
Food Standards Agency records list about 4,001 restaurants, cafés and works canteens and about 697 takeaways across Euston and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Every kitchen among them that cooks under a canopy has a hood, plenum and filters collecting grease. Kitchens in Euston get their food hygiene inspections from Camden council. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after. Overnight is the normal time to clean a London kitchen extract, so trading is not affected.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near St Pancras New Church, or anywhere in Euston, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

FAQs for Euston
Is parking a problem for work in Euston?
A loading bay, a visitor permit or off-street space near the site in Euston makes the visit easier to plan. Much of our London work is done overnight, which helps.
Do you work overnight in Euston?
Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. It means the site in Euston keeps running as normal. Let us know the hours you are closed and we will book within them.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. For many sites, photos and a few details are enough, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.
Do we lose a day’s trading?
Not normally. Visits are timed for when the area is closed, such as overnight or at a weekend, so the site can carry on as normal.
How do you protect the area?
We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before we start, and waste is contained as we go. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.
How much does canopy cleaning cost in Euston?
It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. For a quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and tell us about the site and its opening hours.
What paperwork do I get after a canopy clean?
Photos of the canopy and plenum before and after. The report includes a recommended next clean date.
What kinds of canopies do you clean?
Wall and island canopies, long cooking-line hoods and small single hoods. Each one is cleaned inside and out, with the plenum behind the filters.
Keeping the system healthy
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:
- Wash or exchange the filters on a regular cycle
- Avoid harsh scourers that scratch the canopy
- Make sure filters sit tight in the housing
- Run the extract the whole time you’re cooking
File the report alongside your fire risk assessment, so it’s ready when an EHO, insurer or fire officer asks. Before and after pictures speak for themselves.
A change in how the canopy behaves is worth reporting. More drips or quicker clogging often mean the cleaning interval needs looking at, which a grease thickness test can confirm.
Do you need canopy cleaning in Euston?
Most canopies have troughs or channels that catch running grease. Left to fill up, they spill over, and grease ends up dripping from the canopy edge.
What we’re most often called out for:
- Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
- A plenum thick with grease behind the filters
- Grease filters blocking between washes
- A greasy hood noticed by an inspector
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like University College Hospital about within half a mile south-west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

What happens if it’s left?
Getting the canopy cleaned in Euston now saves a bigger job later. The work takes a few hours for most canopies, out of hours so service carries on. Left alone, grease keeps moving into the plenum and duct. Every month a London system goes without attention adds to what has to be done later.
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

What we do, step by step
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes part of a shift for most kitchens, more where there are several canopies or heavy deposits. In Euston, as across London, we normally work overnight or at weekends and hand the site back ready to open.
- We start by checking the canopy and what’s behind its filters.
- We protect everything below once it has cooled.
- Heavy deposits come off by hand, then the surfaces are degreased.
- Plenum, housing, troughs and canopy are all cleaned and checked.
- The canopy is signed off with before and after pictures and a next clean date.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Let us know about parking and loading
Getting a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

When something else is needed
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work cannot put right:
- Electrical faults in the canopy
- Poor airflow from a fan that needs repair
- A hood that doesn’t cover the cooking line
If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Euston
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in Euston and across Greater London. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.
