TR19 inspection across Stodmarsh

How we handle TR19 inspection in Stodmarsh

A pre-clean survey is the diagnosis, and the clean is the treatment. Readings, pictures and notes on access are gathered from end to end, so the clean can be planned properly. We’re often asked to deal with insurers asking for TR19 evidence and ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits, on pre-clean surveys, access surveys and post-clean checks.

Somewhere as small as Stodmarsh, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.

Good records are part of the job. Each visit is written up with pictures, covering the work done, any areas we couldn’t access and a recommended next date. File it in your maintenance log so it’s to hand when an insurer or inspector asks.

Why act early in Stodmarsh

Without readings, you’re guessing when to clean. Any reading of 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning under TR19® Grease, and you can only act on that if you’ve measured it. With notice, the visit to Stodmarsh can be fitted around your bookings and events.

Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

Why book with us

  • Each visit written up, with photos
  • A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
  • Full insurance on every job
  • Accredited under CHAS and SafeContractor, with ISO 9001

What we do, step by step

Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes a morning or less for one kitchen, more where there are several systems. Visits to a village like Stodmarsh are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.

  1. We agree a time when the kitchen is closed or quiet.
  2. We look over the canopy, plenum, ducts, fan and discharge.
  3. We take WFTT or DTT readings at set points along the system.
  4. We photograph the test points and record any sections we can’t reach.
  5. You get a report with readings, pictures and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions

How to get a quote

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Your questions about TR19 inspection in Stodmarsh

Which council inspects kitchens in Stodmarsh?

Food hygiene inspections in Stodmarsh are carried out by Canterbury City council. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.

Do you work overnight in Stodmarsh?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. Your customers, staff or residents in Stodmarsh needn’t be disturbed. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.

How much does TR19 inspection cost?

It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. To get one, call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and tell us about the site and its opening hours.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes, of course. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule with a fixed quote.

What about areas you can’t get to?

Anything we cannot reach goes on the report, with photos where possible, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.

What is grease thickness testing?

Grease thickness testing measures the layer of grease on the duct surfaces, by WFTT or DTT. Each reading is recorded in microns.

How long does a TR19 inspection take?

Testing takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system. Large or multiple systems take longer, and you can call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line to book it in.

When should we have our next grease test?

That varies with the kitchen’s daily use. BESA’s minimum cleaning intervals are every 3, 6 or 12 months for heavy, moderate and light use, and grease readings help set the real interval.

Between visits

After the visit, a few habits help the work last:

  • File every inspection report with your certificates
  • Book the next test on the date in the report
  • Tell us if menus or opening hours change
  • Share inspection reports with your insurer or broker when asked

Keep the verification report next to the certificate it relates to. The pair gives a clear record of the clean and the check.

When cooking hours or the menu change, check the interval still fits. A quick grease test answers the question.

Part by part

Restaurants, pubs and hotels

Inspections are done when the kitchen is closed or quiet so the kitchen keeps cooking.

Vertical risers

Access to risers is often limited. We record what can and can’t be reached.

Do you need TR19 inspection in Stodmarsh?

Looking at a canopy tells you little about what’s in the duct. Clean filters can hide a heavy layer behind them, so readings are the reliable guide.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • Post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean
  • Cleaning intervals that may not suit the kitchen
  • Systems cleaned on a calendar with no measurements
  • Missing access panels found on survey

Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as St Martins Hospital (about 3.6 miles south-west), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.

What to look for in a quote

  • What’s included in the scope, part by part
  • Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
  • How they set the interval to the next visit
  • How areas they can’t reach will be recorded

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and give you a fixed quote.

Fixed quotes for TR19 inspection in Stodmarsh

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • The scale of the work
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • How easy every part is to reach

A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before work begins.

What to send for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use

Here’s what helps us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few photos and any previous report or certificate. Once you have those, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
