How we handle TR19 inspection in Sipson

Not every kitchen fits neatly into a calendar. In a busy kitchen, grease can build faster than the minimum intervals allow for, and only measurement shows it. We give your risk assessment measured figures rather than guesses. Typical jobs include kitchens whose menu or hours have changed and checking the result of a recent clean, across access surveys, post-clean checks and pre-clean surveys.

London kitchens tend to trade late and open early, so extract cleaning in Sipson is normally done overnight, after the last service. Parking, loading and access to the roof are agreed with the building before the night of the clean.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What TR19 inspection cannot fix

In fairness, there are a few things this work won’t fix:

  • Fan breakdowns, which need a repair visit
  • Fire safety duties beyond the extract system
  • Sections with no access, until panels are fitted

If you are not sure, just call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you a straight answer.

Sipson: your questions answered

Which council inspects kitchens in Sipson?

Food hygiene inspections in Sipson are carried out by Hillingdon council. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.

Do you clean school canteen extracts around Sipson out of term?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. The FSA’s register shows about 21 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Sipson. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.

How often should grease be tested?

We suggest a next test date in every report, taking the readings and the kitchen’s hours into account. A risk assessment based on measured grease should set the interval.

How much does TR19 inspection cost?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how big it is, what state it’s in, how we reach it and the working hours. We fix the price before any work starts.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.

Can you inspect our extract for our insurance company?

Yes. Our TR19 audits cover readings, photos, access and a recommended cleaning interval. You can pass it straight to your insurer or broker.

What accreditations do you have?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What does TR19 mean?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.

Why deal with it now?

After an incident, an insurer can ask to see proof of TR19 cleaning and inspection. Without them, a claim can be reduced or refused. An up-to-date inspection report is a good place to start. In a London building, a problem in a duct, damper or fan rarely stays in one unit.

Working hours, access and the scale of the site all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before we start.

Common problems we fix in Sipson

Some parts of a system are hard to reach, and grease can be missed there clean after clean. A survey finds the sections that cannot be reached, so the gaps can be closed.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits
  • Sections of duct that can’t be reached
  • Pre-clean surveys before a first TR19 clean
  • Checking the result of a recent clean

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Harlington about less than half a mile south, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

What your quote should include

  • What happens if part of the system can’t be accessed
  • Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
  • When the next visit should be, and why
  • Whether a survey comes first

Our hiring checklist

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.

TR19 inspection around Sipson

The FSA’s data shows about 17 bars, pubs and nightclubs and about 18 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses registered within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Sipson. A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. Kitchens in Sipson get their food hygiene inspections from Hillingdon council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after. Overnight is the normal time to clean a London kitchen extract, so trading isn’t affected.

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Cherry Lane Primary School or anywhere near Sipson, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Christ Church, or anywhere in Sipson, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Fixed quotes for TR19 inspection in Sipson

The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:

  • The scale of the work
  • The condition of the system
  • The number of sites or systems
  • How easy every part is to reach

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re unsure, call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

What to send for a quote

Before you ask for a quote, gather:

  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • Your last certificate, test record or report

There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To get going, call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

The process

Your staff do not need to do much on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and the rest is down to us. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. Night and weekend working is normal for us in London, and a site in Sipson is no exception.

  1. Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
  2. The same access points are opened up.
  3. We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
  4. Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
  5. The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Clear loose items from the work area

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Advice

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.
