About our TR19 inspection in Hatton
A pre-clean survey is the diagnosis, and the clean is the treatment. We look at the system, take grease readings and photograph what we find, so the quote and the clean fit the real system. If you’re dealing with parts of the system left out of past cleans and insurers asking for TR19 evidence, we can help, from access surveys, wet film thickness tests and deposit thickness tests onwards.
Across London, many commercial kitchens are squeezed into basements and narrow back-of-house spaces, with extract ducts that can climb several floors to discharge at roof level. In Hatton, as elsewhere in the capital, a long duct run means more access points to open and more grease to remove.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

For landlords and multi-site operators
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
Leave it or put it right?
After an incident, an insurer can ask to see proof of TR19 cleaning and inspection. Missing records can put a claim at risk. Getting an inspection done now starts that paper trail. Every month a London system goes without attention adds to what has to be done later.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before work begins.
Why us?
- Fully insured
- One contact for all your sites in London and the South East
- Every job surveyed first
- Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line

How it works
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and it goes on the report too. All told, the work takes a morning or less for one kitchen, more where there are several systems. A name and number for whoever controls access to the building in Hatton saves time on the night.
- Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
- The same access points are opened up.
- Grease readings are taken again at set points.
- Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
- We report the findings and flag any areas that need more work.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored near the system
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Tell us where we can park and unload
How to get a quote
For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. We usually come back within one working day.

Signs you need TR19 inspection in Hatton
When a site in Hatton changes owner or cleaning contractor, the records don’t always follow. Without them, nobody knows how much grease is in the system or when it was last cleaned.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- Insurers asking for TR19 evidence
- Cleaning intervals that may not suit the kitchen
- Ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits
- Pre-clean surveys before a first TR19 clean
Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Harlington is the nearest hospital to Hatton, about 1.9 miles north-west.
What your quote should include
- Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Whether the price is fixed
- Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
Looking after it afterwards
How long the results last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Keep to the recommended interval
- Don’t box in or cover duct access panels
- Flag oily drips near the extract
- Share inspection reports with your insurer or broker when asked
If any reading is 500 microns or more, the report flags it for immediate spot cleaning, and we can quote to do it.
Fit access panels where the survey finds sections can’t be reached, so every part of the duct can be cleaned.
Hatton kitchens: local notes
Look up Hatton on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you will find about 113 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 47 sandwich bars and takeaways within about 1.5 miles of central Hatton. Kitchens like these cook for very different hours, and grease testing shows which extracts need cleaning soonest. The fire and rescue service for Hatton is London Fire Brigade. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Food hygiene inspections in Hatton are the job of Hounslow council’s environmental health team. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as Cranford Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Osterley House is about 3.4 miles north-east), access may need planning.

When it’s something else
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:
- Fire safety duties beyond the extract system
- Heavy deposits found on test, which still need cleaning
- Ductwork that was designed or installed badly
If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will say what we think.

How the job changes from site to site
Canopy and plenum
The plenum behind the filters can carry a lot of grease. We take readings there and photograph it on every inspection.
Vertical risers
Risers can be hard to get into. We record what can and cannot be reached.
Questions from Hatton
Who inspects food businesses in Hatton?
In Hatton, it’s Hounslow council that carries out food hygiene inspections. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.
What do you need to know about parking in Hatton?
London parking can be tight, so details of loading bays and permits help. Working overnight, as we often do in London, typically makes it simpler.
Do you carry out TR19 audits for insurers?
Yes. We inspect the system and produce a report with grease readings, photos and any inaccessible areas. It’s set out for your insurer or broker.
Which accreditations do you hold?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.
When should we have our next grease test?
Enough to be sure grease stays within the TR19® Grease figures between cleans. If readings rise, the interval should shorten.
How long does grease testing take?
Testing takes anything from an hour for a small canopy and short duct to a good part of a day for a large site. Sites with several canopies take longer, so call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll plan it.
What grease levels does TR19 allow?
Under TR19® Grease, the mean thickness should not exceed 200 microns between cleans. Any reading of 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning.
