TR19 inspection in Printstile, done properly
TR19® Grease says grease should not exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns or more at any point needs immediate spot cleaning. Grease testing shows which side of those lines you’re on. The work covers wet film thickness tests, post-clean checks and deposit thickness tests, and people most often call us about post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean and cleaning intervals that may not suit the kitchen.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.
We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

When to call us in Printstile
Grease is fuel. Flames from the range can be pulled into the canopy and travel through the ducts to other parts of the building. Measuring it is the first step to keeping it under control.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Parts of the system left out of past cleans
- Ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits
- Kitchens whose menu or hours have changed
- Extracts that have never been grease tested
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Tonbridge Cottage Hospital about 2.6 miles east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.
Before booking anyone
- Proof of insurance
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
- When the next visit should be, and why
- What records you will receive afterwards
How the visit works
The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. Then we make the system safe and start. The work on site takes around an hour or two per canopy and duct system, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. Somewhere like Printstile, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
- We open the access points used on the clean.
- We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
- We photograph each area to record how it was left.
- The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.
Before we arrive
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas

Common questions in Printstile
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Printstile?
That is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
Do you work overnight in Printstile?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The site is handed back ready to open. When you phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us, mention when the site is quiet.
What do the grease readings need to be?
Two figures matter: a mean of no more than 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns at any single point, which needs immediate spot cleaning. We show your readings against those figures.
Why survey before a clean?
We check the layout, the grease levels and the access, before anyone starts cleaning. Any access problems are flagged so they can be sorted first.
Where does the waste go?
We take it away at the end of the visit. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.
Is Printstile in your area?
Yes. Printstile is part of the area we cover, within the South East and London area we cover.
How much notice should we give?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
How much time does an inspection need?
It takes a couple of hours for a typical kitchen extract system. The visit is timed so cooking is not disrupted.

What a clean won’t put right
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what TR19 inspection will not do:
- Heavy deposits found on test, which still need cleaning
- Mechanical faults in the extract
- Design faults in the extract system
If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will say what we think.

- Wet film thickness tests
- Post-clean checks
- Access surveys

- Pre-clean surveys
What affects the quote in Printstile
Sites vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- The size of the system
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.
What we need to know
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- The postcode and the type of business
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
For TR19 inspection in Printstile, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, plus photos or the previous report if they’re to hand. A fixed quote typically follows within one working day.
Between visits
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Share inspection reports with your insurer or broker when asked
- Keep grease filters clean and fitted properly
- Keep access panels clear and unpainted
- Flag oily drips near the extract
Readings of 500 microns or more are highlighted as needing immediate spot cleaning, and we can arrange it.
Close the access gaps found during inspection, so every part of the duct can be cleaned.
What your team can do, and what needs us
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. That’s our job.
