Kitchen extract cleaning in RH9

Our kitchen extract cleaning service in RH9

Not sure when the extract was last cleaned, or by whom? Send a few photos of the canopy and filters when you ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, and we’ll come back with a fixed price for the work in RH9, typically within one working day. Common call-outs are for an extract that has never been cleaned to TR19 and cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey, across discharge points, vertical risers and horizontal duct runs.

Your trading hours come first. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits.

  1. We survey the system, from your pictures or on site, canopy to discharge.
  2. We take grease readings at set points and give you a fixed quote.
  3. On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
  4. Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
  5. We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.

How we quote

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why we survey first, from photos or on site, and why the quote is fixed before we start.

Why businesses in RH9 choose us

  • CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, with ISO 9001
  • One contact for all your sites in London and the South East
  • A written report with photos after each visit
  • Work around your opening hours, with 24/7 emergency cover

Ask for a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Landmarks near Godstone

Locally, jobs take us to businesses close to Godstone Village School, Church of St Nicholas and The Hare And Hounds Public House, among other places. Godstone’s nearest station is Godstone station, about 2.2 miles south of the centre. Nearby you will also find Caterham Dene Hospital (2.5 miles north) and Bletchingley Castle (1.9 miles west). For a walk, there’s Mercers Lake and Bay Pond.

Kitchen extracts across RH9

In RH9, we work in places such as Holmethorpe, Godstone and Blindley Heath and well beyond. We cover every place we list for RH9, 9 in all, and kitchens are cleaned around their opening hours, overnight and at weekends included.

London and the South East cover everything from city basements to rural kitchens. Wherever the site is in RH9, the work is done to the same TR19® standard.

Godstone: For schools such as Godstone Village School, kitchen extract cleaning is typically booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. Where a hall near Church of St Nicholas, or anywhere in Godstone, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does.

What the work involves, part by part

Extract fan and discharge

Some systems have attenuators to cut noise, and they hold grease. We clean what can be reached and note anything that can’t.

Canopy and plenum

Canopies vary from a single hood to long runs over several appliances, every section is cleaned and recorded in the photo report before and after.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning

The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:

  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • The times the site is available
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

We don’t list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, and we’ll talk you through it.

What to send for a quote

Many jobs can be priced from pictures and some basics. Send what you can of the following:

  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • A few general shots of the system

To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few pictures and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.

Aftercare tips

Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:

  • Flag any change in how the extract sounds or works
  • Wipe the canopy down at the end of each day
  • Never cook with filters missing or out of place
  • File each certificate with the fire risk assessment

Every clean ends with a photo report. Before and after photos show each part of the system, alongside a list of what was cleaned, anything out of reach and the recommended next clean date.

Stick to the cleaning interval on the certificate. BESA guidance links the minimum interval to daily cooking hours, so a change in hours may mean a change in interval, and grease readings will show it.

What staff can safely do

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

When something else is needed

We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so here are the limits:

  • A fan motor or bearings that have failed (that needs a fan repair or replacement)
  • Damaged duct sections that need replacing
  • An undersized canopy or fan

RH9 questions

What do you do to protect the area?

We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before work begins, and waste is contained as we go. At the end, the area is cleaned down.

What is TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

How often should a kitchen extract be cleaned?

BESA guidance gives minimum intervals of 3, 6 or 12 months, depending on daily cooking hours. Kitchens that fry or grill a lot may need cleaning sooner, and readings will tell you.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes, 24/7. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, and the emergency line covers the rest.

Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?

We work around your hours. Most kitchens book us overnight or at weekends and the kitchen is ready to cook when we leave.

Do you cover RH9?

Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, RH9 included.

Does the law say I must clean to TR19?

The legal duty sits in the Fire Safety Order 2005 rather than in TR19 itself. In practice, TR19 is how kitchens show they’re managing grease, and many insurers ask for proof of it.
