Our kitchen extract cleaning service in EN2
Insurers often want evidence of regular TR19 cleaning, and a claim can be refused or reduced without it. The certificate and photo report from each clean in EN2 give you that record for the maintenance log. The work covers discharge points, vertical risers and horizontal duct runs, and the jobs we see most are a kitchen taken over without any extract records and heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs.
A visit follows the same order every time: sheeting and protection first, make the system safe, carry out the kitchen extract cleaning, clear away and leave you the report. The visit itself takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the system and how it’s reached.
- We record grease levels at set points, then fix the price.
- After the kitchen closes, we sheet the area and set up to contain grease and water.
- Heavy deposits are scraped by hand and the system degreased to TR19® Grease.
- The sign-off: post-clean readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next clean date.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are not sure what’s needed, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email for straight advice and a fixed quote.

Near you in Enfield Chase
We work in commercial kitchens and buildings around Chase Side Primary School, The Old Wheatsheaf pub and Grange Park Preparatory School, among other places. Also close by are Enfield Town Park (0.7 miles south-east), Enfield County School for Girls (0.6 miles east) and Church of St Mary Magdalene (less than half a mile south). There’s a railway station in Enfield Chase itself: Enfield Chase station. A little further out are Edmonton Green Shopping Centre (2.8 miles south-east) and Museum of Enfield (0.8 miles south-east). Not far away are Pole Hill and Oakleigh Park Rail Cutting.
Where we work in EN2
Across EN2, from Enfield, Enfield Chase and Bush Hill Park outwards, kitchens range from town-centre restaurants and takeaways to pubs, hotels, schools and care homes. Each extract is cleaned to the same TR19® standard, canopy to discharge.
London and the South East cover everything from city basements to rural kitchens. The same TR19® standard applies to all of them, in EN2 and beyond.
Enfield Chase: Term dates shape school work: for a school like Chase Side Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Mary Magdalene or elsewhere in Enfield Chase, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.
For landlords and multi-site operators
When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We’re happy to deal with either side, and the report can go to both.
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
Looking after it afterwards
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Flag any change in how the extract sounds or works
- Never cook with filters missing or out of place
- Diarise the next clean as soon as you get the certificate
- Wipe the canopy down at the end of each day
After cleaning, we re-test the same points we measured at the start, giving you before and after readings alongside the photos. Your TR19 certificate is then issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
Book the next clean before the last one runs out. If the kitchen starts cooking longer hours, the interval should be looked at again, and grease readings will show it.
Leave it or put it right?
Grease build-up causes everyday problems too. Filters block, airflow drops and the kitchen gets hotter and smokier, while the fan works harder to move less air. Smells, dripping grease and condensation often follow.

What kitchen extract cleaning can’t fix
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- Extraction that cannot cope with the cooking because of its design
- Fat blocking the kitchen drains
- Faulty fire dampers in the duct
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Questions from EN2
What accreditations do you hold?
We’re members of Vent Hygiene Elite, the scheme run by BESCA, and we clean to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.
How do you keep the site clean during the work?
With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. The work is kept contained and leave the area clean.
Do you work with multi-site operators?
Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together as one programme. Every site has its own report.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
We never leave them off the paperwork. You’ll know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
How long does it take to clean a kitchen extract system?
It takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system. We’ll confirm the time when we quote.
What do you do with what you remove?
It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it doesn’t spread.
What information do you need?
Where the site is, what it is and when it’s open, plus photos of the system and your last certificate or report if you have one.
