FAQs for Eastfields
Can you come to Eastfields after we close?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. It means the site in Eastfields keeps running as normal. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
What do you need to know about parking in Eastfields?
A loading bay, a visitor permit or off-street space near the site in Eastfields makes the visit easier to plan. If the building has a loading slot system, we’ll book into it.
What paperwork comes with a kitchen extract clean?
You receive a TR19 certificate and a photo report. The certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, and the report shows before and after pictures, readings, any areas not reached and the next clean date.
Which parts of the extract do you clean?
Every part the air passes through, as far as access allows. Where there are not enough access panels to reach a section, it’s recorded, and we can fit new ones.
How much notice do you need?
For planned work, earlier is better, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we’ll propose a schedule with a fixed quote.
What happens to the waste?
Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, including grease, debris and dirty water. We don’t leave it behind.
Are you a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member?
We clean to BESA TR19® Grease as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, with certificates issued through the BESCA portal. We’ve been trading since 2009.
Kitchen extract cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Eastfields
A closed kitchen is not earning, so the timing of a clean matters. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, or between services where the kitchen has a gap. Equipment is switched off and left to cool, the area is sheeted, and the kitchen is handed back ready to cook. If you have grease smells coming from the extract and missing paperwork after a change of operator, we can help, from canopies and hoods, vertical risers and horizontal duct runs onwards. Hood cleaning is where most enquiries from Eastfields start: a system that’s clean inside, not just on the surface, and a certificate that proves it.
Access decides how thorough a clean can be. Where a duct run has no panels, we say so on the report and can fit new ones.
London kitchens are often tucked into basements or the back of a building, with extract ducts that can climb several floors to discharge at roof level. In Eastfields, as elsewhere in the capital, a long duct run means more access points to open and more grease to remove.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Why it’s worth doing now in Eastfields
Putting it off simply moves the grease further down the duct. Over time, soft grease bakes into a harder, thicker crust, which is slower to clean. Staying on a regular cycle keeps each clean manageable. For a site in Eastfields, fitting the work in overnight now is far easier than closing at short notice later.
One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. You will have a fixed price before work begins.
Why book with us
- A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
- A written report with pictures after each visit
- CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001
- Fixed quotes from a survey or pictures
How it works
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before work begins, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system. Getting kit into a London building takes planning, so let us know where we can load and park in Eastfields.
- You send pictures or we visit, and the system is surveyed from canopy to discharge.
- We take grease readings at set points and give you a fixed quote.
- The kitchen is closed, the equipment cooled and everything nearby protected.
- Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Move anything stored near the system
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards

Keeping the system healthy
To keep the system working properly between visits:
- Give the canopy a daily wipe
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Flag any change in how the extract sounds or works
- Run the extract fan throughout cooking
If we couldn’t get into part of the duct, the report says so plainly. A TR19 report should record what wasn’t cleaned as well as what was, and new access panels can be fitted so the next clean covers it.
Wipe the canopy down regularly and empty grease troughs or collection points. A daily wipe isn’t a deep clean, but it helps between visits.
When it’s something else
Kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:
- Extraction that can’t cope with the cooking because of its design
- A damper that sticks or has a damaged link
- A broken extract fan that will not run
If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will say what we think.

What kitchen extract cleaning looks like in Eastfields
The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 21 pubs, bars and clubs and about 3 hotels and B&Bs within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Eastfields. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. Environmental health officers from Merton council inspect food businesses in Eastfields. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. In London, kitchens are usually cleaned overnight, when the kitchen is closed and loading is easier.
If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St. Mark's Church or elsewhere in Eastfields, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. A kitchen near Mitcham Eastfields station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval.

Eastfields is one of 764 towns, villages and districts in Greater London where we work for commercial clients. There’s also a page for London, roughly 7 miles from Eastfields.

Near you in Eastfields
Locally, jobs take us to businesses close to The White Lion of Mortimer pub, Figge's Marsh and Furzedown Secondary School and the streets around them. Eastfields has its own railway station: Mitcham Eastfields station. Well-known places in the area include Centrale Croydon (3.1 miles south-east) and Wandle Industrial Museum (0.7 miles south-west). For landlords and multi-site operators
Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we’ll send a fixed quote.
What we’re called out for in Eastfields
It’s common for parts of a duct to have been missed for years. Most of the time it’s because there were never enough access panels, so nobody could get to them. Grease in those sections keeps building out of sight.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey
- Grease drips onto cooking equipment
- An overdue clean flagged by an EHO or fire officer
- Missing paperwork after a change of operator
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Wilson Hospital (about 0.9 miles south-west), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.
Questions to ask before you book
- If they look at the system before pricing
- What happens if part of the system can’t be accessed
- Whether they recommend a next date
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
What staff can safely do
Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.
