Kitchen extract cleaning in America Ground

We’ve been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, we clean to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. The work covers extract fans, plenums and filters and vertical risers, and common reasons people get in touch are a system with no record of a TR19 clean and a new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history. Hood cleaning is where most enquiries from America Ground start: a system that’s clean inside, not just on the surface, and a certificate that proves it.

Access decides how thorough a clean can be. Where a duct run has no panels, we say so on the report and can fit new ones.

Around a smaller place like America Ground, kitchen extracts tend to belong to pubs, cafés, takeaways and school or care home kitchens. Quieter kitchens still collect grease in the duct, just more slowly, so the interval is set by hours of use and grease readings.

We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

The process

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and it goes on the report too. The visit takes anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system. In a smaller place like America Ground, parking is rarely the issue, but tell us about gates, roof access and opening hours.

  1. First comes a survey of the whole system, by pictures or a visit.
  2. Set points are tested for grease thickness and the quote is fixed before we start.
  3. Once the kitchen has closed and the equipment has cooled, we sheet and protect the area.
  4. We clean the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
  5. We test again, photograph the result and issue your TR19 certificate and photo report.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

Getting a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Advice

When something else is needed

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Fat blocking the kitchen drains
  • A duct that’s holed or coming apart
  • Faulty fire dampers in the duct

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will tell you honestly.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Vertical risers
  • Canopies and hoods
  • Extract fans
  • Discharge points
  • Plenums and filters

Signs you need kitchen extract cleaning in America Ground

Grease filters are the first line of defence, and they’re often the weak point. Damaged, missing or overloaded filters let grease straight past, and from there it travels on to the fan.

Look out for these warning signs:

  • An overdue clean flagged by an EHO or fire officer
  • A new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history
  • An extract that no longer clears the smoke
  • A TR19 certificate needed for the insurer

If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Holy Trinity Church or elsewhere in America Ground, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

Our hiring checklist

What affects the cost of kitchen extract cleaning

The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:

  • The number of sites or systems
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • The condition of the system
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

Asking for a quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to have:

  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • A few general shots of the system
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room

Want a quote for kitchen extract cleaning? Please give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos with a few details about the site. We’ll explain what we’d do and send a fixed quote before you commit to anything.

Between visits

How long the results last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Run the extract fan throughout cooking
  • Clean the grease filters regularly between TR19 cleans
  • Refit filters properly after cleaning
  • Flag any change in how the extract sounds or works

You leave with a date for the next clean, set from your daily cooking hours and the readings we took. A 3, 6 or 12-monthly maintenance plan keeps it on track, so the date is not missed.

Wipe the canopy down regularly and empty grease troughs or collection points. A daily wipe isn’t a deep clean, but it helps between visits.

Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. Environmental health officers from Hastings council inspect food businesses in America Ground. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as University School or anywhere near America Ground, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. Commuter trade near Hastings station can mean long cooking hours, and long hours put a kitchen into BESA’s more frequent cleaning bands.

Different parts, different methods

Extract fan and discharge

The fan pulls the air through the whole system, and grease that gets past everything else ends up on its blades. We isolate it, open it up and degrease it.

Schools, hospitals and care homes

In a care home or hospital, the kitchen may cook every day of the year. We plan the clean around meal times and work in a contained, tidy way with as little disruption as possible.

What happens if it’s left?

If your kitchen in America Ground is past its cleaning date, it’s worth booking now. The job takes one visit for most kitchens, while large or complex systems may need more than one, and we fit around your opening hours. Waiting only adds grease and risk. Booking now means the visit to America Ground is planned around you, not forced by a breakdown.

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.

Why America Ground businesses choose us

America Ground: your questions answered

Does being near the coast affect kitchen extract cleaning in America Ground?

It can. America Ground is within about 1 mile of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion. We look at fans, cowls and fixings for rust as well as grease.

Do you clean school canteen extracts around America Ground out of term?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. With about 6 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of America Ground, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Just phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

What does kitchen extract cleaning cost?

The cost depends on the size of the system, its condition, access and timing. Ask us for a fixed quote and we will typically reply within one working day.

Will I get a certificate after the clean?

Yes, a TR19 certificate, along with a photo report. It records what was cleaned, what wasn’t accessible and the recommended next clean date.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes, of course. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we will suggest a schedule and quote for it.

How long does a kitchen extract clean take?

Short systems are done in a few hours, but large systems may be spread over more than one visit. We will tell you how long when we quote.

What is TR19?

TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

Can you price the work without visiting?

In many cases, yes. Photos of the system and the access, plus your opening hours and last report, are often enough. Where we cannot see enough, we arrange a survey.
