Grease filter exchange in Tangmere
Washing filters in the kitchen sink is messy and easily missed on a busy week. With a filter exchange, we bring a clean set and take the dirty one away, so the canopy is never left without filters. We are often asked to deal with blocked baffle filters and grease building up behind the canopy filters, on school and hospital kitchens, wall canopies and mesh filters.
For a smaller kitchen near Tangmere, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. We plan the visit around your hours, with the journey sorted in advance.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

How the job changes from site to site
School, care home and staff kitchens
Even kitchens with fixed meal times build up grease, though often more slowly.
Baffle filters
Baffle filters are robust and widely used in commercial canopies. They do not clean themselves, because the grease they collect builds up.
For landlords and multi-site operators
From a single site to a large estate, you get the same standard: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with pictures.
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We are happy to deal with either side and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
Grease filter exchange around Tangmere
Look up Tangmere on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you’ll find about 6 restaurants, cafés and works canteens within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Tangmere. Clogged filters slow the airflow, and busy kitchens like these clog them fast. Food hygiene inspections in Tangmere are the job of Chichester council’s environmental health team. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Before-and-after pictures from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand. Tangmere sits within the area of West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as Tangmere Primary Academy tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near St Andrew's Church, or anywhere in Tangmere, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Chichester Centre (about 2.5 miles west), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.
Tangmere is about 3 miles east of Chichester, in West Sussex. We carry out grease filter exchange for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Tangmere and the rest of West Sussex. What happens on the day
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes a short visit, depending on how many filters the canopies hold. We plan the journey to Tangmere and bring what the job is likely to need.
- The filters in each canopy are measured and counted.
- We set the interval with you.
- On each visit, we remove the greasy filters.
- A clean set is fitted and checked for gaps.
- The dirty filters leave with us and the next visit is booked.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Have your last certificate or report to hand
- Let us know about parking and loading
Ask for a quote
We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
Advice

Also in Tangmere
What happens if it’s left?
Once filters are saturated, more grease gets past them. That makes the next full clean a bigger job, and grease may build up faster than the cleaning interval allows. Systems on quieter sites still build up dirt and wear, just more slowly.
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and why the quote is fixed before any work starts.

What grease filter exchange can’t fix
In fairness, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- An extract that was undersized from the start
- Grease behind the filters that a swap can’t remove
- Extraction problems caused by the fan rather than the filters
If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
Parts of the system we cover
- Mesh filters
- Restaurants and pubs
- School and hospital kitchens
- Wall canopies
- Baffle filters
- Island canopies
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. A few tips:
- Make sure no filter is left out
- Wipe the outside of the canopy as part of daily cleaning
- Report a dripping canopy early
- Never cook with the extract switched off
Your team carries on as normal, without the filter washing. Just keep the canopy clear for the next visit and let us know of any changes to opening hours.
If cooking has stepped up, the filter schedule should too. Adjusting the schedule now prevents a build-up behind the canopy.
Your questions about grease filter exchange in Tangmere
Can you work in Tangmere outside opening hours?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. Your customers, staff or residents in Tangmere needn’t be disturbed. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we’ll book within them.
Which fire service covers Tangmere?
Tangmere is in the area of West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Do we need to close while you work?
Not normally. The area we’re working in has to be out of use while we’re there, so we book a time when it would be closed anyway.
How regularly do grease filters need exchanging?
That depends on the cooking. Heavy cooking means more frequent changes than kitchens that cook less. We set a schedule that suits your kitchen.
Is there a cleaning option for the filters we have?
Yes, filter cleaning is available. We will check your filters first because bent or damaged ones may need replacing.
Do you work with multi-site operators?
Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Every site has its own report.
How long does the visit take?
That depends on the amount of work, but for a typical site it takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. We will give you a better idea when we quote.
How much notice do you need?
That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
How we price grease filter exchange
There’s no set price list, because no two systems are the same. What we look at:
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Travel, parking and unloading
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
Combining work into one visit or one programme often makes better use of the time. Mention every system or site you need covered and we’ll price it together.
Helping us quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. With your enquiry, please include:
- The site address and the type of premises
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
Need a price for grease filter exchange? Please give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us about the site. We will talk you through the work and send you a fixed quote before anything is booked.
