Grease filter exchange in Lower Green

Grease filters are the first line of defence in a kitchen extract. Their job is to stop grease getting further into the system and they do it best when they’re clean. With grease filter exchange, clean filters replace greasy ones at regular intervals. We’re often asked to deal with filters that leave gaps in the canopy and filters so greasy the air can barely pass, across mesh filters, island canopies and school and hospital kitchens.

Work in a small place like Lower Green starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

The report is your system’s health record: a dated account with pictures of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

When it’s something else

Grease filter exchange can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. It doesn’t solve:

  • Extraction problems caused by the fan rather than the filters
  • Smell complaints that need odour control equipment
  • Grease behind the filters that a swap cannot remove

If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer.

Where we work

  • Restaurants and pubs
  • Baffle filters
  • School and hospital kitchens
  • Island canopies
  • Mesh filters
  • Wall canopies

The process

The visit has three parts: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes well under an hour for most canopies. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Lower Green before we set off.

  1. We look at the canopies and the condition of the filters.
  2. We note any filters that are bent, damaged or missing.
  3. We exchange the dirty filters for a clean set.
  4. The filters are checked for fit before we go.
  5. We tell you if the plenum or canopy needs a clean.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand

How to get a quote

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Advice

FAQs for Lower Green

Can the work in Lower Green be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Lower Green needn’t be disturbed. When you call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, mention when the site is quiet.

Who is the fire and rescue service for Lower Green?

Fire safety enforcement in Lower Green is handled by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.

Do I get a report after the visit?

Yes, on every job. The report is dated and includes photos, plus a certificate via the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal for TR19® Grease cleans. Keep it in your maintenance log.

Are you insured?

Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.

Can we skip TR19 cleans if the filters are changed regularly?

No. Filters don’t catch everything, so grease still reaches the ductwork and the whole system still needs its TR19 clean.

Do you work in Lower Green?

Yes. We work in Lower Green and across Surrey, within our South East and London area. For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.

Which kinds of sites do you work on?

Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a single café to a large school. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.

What’s the right interval for changing filters?

That depends on the cooking. Kitchens that fry and grill all day need changes more often than lighter ones. We set a schedule that suits your kitchen.

Grease filter exchange around Lower Green

Food Standards Agency records list about 53 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 14 takeaways and sandwich shops within about 1.5 miles of central Lower Green. Clogged filters slow the airflow, and busy kitchens like these clog them fast. It’s Elmbridge council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Lower Green. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. Lower Green sits within the area of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.

Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of All Saints, or anywhere in Lower Green, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. If you cook for passing trade around Esher station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer. Bursars and site managers at schools such as Cranmere Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty.

Between visits

So the system stays in good health:

  • Let us know if your cooking hours increase
  • Keep filter exchange and TR19 cleaning on the same plan
  • Keep canopy surfaces wiped down
  • Do not refit a filter that’s bent

The canopy looks cleaner and the air moves better straight away. Always run the extract during cooking so they catch grease as intended.

Filters that are left too long stop protecting the system. A regular cycle keeps the rest of the system cleaner between full cleans.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so records stay tidy.

Why act early in Lower Green

Leaving filters too long pushes more grease into the plenum and ducts. That makes the next full clean a bigger job and grease readings can rise between cleans. If the system at a site near Lower Green fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.

Why Lower Green businesses choose us

  • Fixed quotes from a survey or photos
  • A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
  • We diagnose before we treat
  • Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line

What staff can safely do

Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Fixed quotes for grease filter exchange in Lower Green

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:

  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • The number of sites or systems
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • The scale of the work

You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, and we will talk you through it.

What we need to know

When you contact us, these details help:

  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it

Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your pictures and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work, before work begins.
