Ductwork cleaning in Weybridge, done properly
We’ve been trading since 2009, working across London and the South East. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, our duct cleaning is done to BESA TR19® Grease, and our certificates are issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Typical jobs include fat dripping from the ductwork and duct runs that can’t be reached, across access panels, bends and junctions and attenuators.
Kitchens in towns like Weybridge are often in older buildings that were never designed for them, so duct runs can be awkward, with bends, long horizontal sections and too few access panels. Sections we can’t reach are listed on the report, and access panels can be added.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

Looking after it afterwards
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Keep grease filters clean and fitted whenever you cook
- Report any grease dripping from duct joints
- Ask for a grease thickness test if the kitchen gets busier
- Keep your cleaning records together
The report names every part of the duct that couldn’t be reached, with the reason. We can fit access panels so those sections are cleaned next time.
Keep the fan on throughout service. Moving air carries vapour through rather than letting it settle, so switching off early adds to the build-up.
When to call us in Weybridge
A duct with too few access doors cannot be fully cleaned. Stretches with no way in may never have been touched, and the grease there keeps building out of sight.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- Thick crusts of old grease along the duct
- A duct nobody has opened in years
- High readings at a recent grease test
- Stale grease odours from the duct
Volunteers running a hall kitchen near United Reform Church, or anywhere in Weybridge, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report
- How VAT is shown on the quote
- If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate
- What paperwork you get at the end
What ductwork cleaning looks like in Weybridge
Food Standards Agency records include about 23 pubs, bars and clubs and about 4 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses across Weybridge and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. Fire safety in Weybridge falls to Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. In Weybridge, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Elmbridge council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
A hospital like No. 2 New Zealand General Hospital, about 1.4 miles north-east, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day. A kitchen near Weybridge station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.
Leave it or put it right?
A partly blocked duct slows the airflow. Less air moves, so heat and smoke stay in the kitchen while the fan strains and grease can drip from duct joints. Dealt with now, it’s a planned visit around your hours rather than a callout when the site needs to be open.
The cost depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Questions from Weybridge
Can a school canteen extract in Weybridge be done out of term time?
Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. The FSA’s register shows about 15 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Weybridge. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Weybridge?
Weybridge is in the area of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Are you accredited?
We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. Photos often do the job, while bigger or harder-to-see systems are surveyed on site.
What information do you need?
Just the basics: the address, the site type, your opening hours and how we reach the system. Photos and the last report help too. Then give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
How do you clean inside the ductwork?
We open each access panel and clean the section it reaches. Heavy grease comes out by hand, and what’s left is degreased, with readings taken before and after.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, with the emergency line covering every other hour.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. One number covers all your sites in our area, with visits on a regular schedule.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.
Honest limits
It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:
- Fire dampers that don’t close (they need testing and remedials)
- A duct that’s too small or badly routed for the kitchen (a design issue)
- An extract fan that has stopped working
If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer.
Parts of the system we cover
- Attenuators
- Horizontal duct runs
- Vertical risers
- Multi-storey ducts
- Bends and junctions
- Access panels
What we do, step by step
Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that’s an evening, overnight or a weekend. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. Parking in a town like Weybridge is usually straightforward, so the main questions are access and timing.
- First the duct route is traced and every access point noted.
- We measure grease thickness at set points before cleaning.
- We open the panels and scrape out the heaviest grease.
- Next the ducts and risers are degreased, using whatever suits the deposit.
- We test again, take photos and note any part that couldn’t be reached.
Before we arrive
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Let us know about parking and loading
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
