The Valley ductwork cleaning
We cover The Valley for ductwork cleaning. Fixed quotes, work around your opening hours and photo reports as standard.
- Ductwork that has never been cleaned
- Years of grease along the duct floor
- Duct runs that can’t be reached
Keeping the system healthy
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:
- Check readings when the menu changes
- Book the next clean before the recommended date
- Report any grease dripping from duct joints
- Never cook with a filter missing
The report names every part of the duct that couldn’t be reached, with the reason. We can fit access panels so those sections are cleaned next time.
Some signs mean the duct needs attention sooner: drips from the ductwork, stale smells or a noisy fan. Testing will show whether any section has reached 500 microns.
About our ductwork cleaning in The Valley
No two duct runs are the same, in The Valley or anywhere else. Some run a short distance to an outside wall, others climb several floors to the roof. The survey traces the route, so we know where to get in and how long it will take. The work covers access panels, multi-storey ducts and attenuators, and people most often call us about years of grease along the duct floor and readings above 200 microns from a grease thickness test.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. We agree access and timings in advance.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

What your team can do, and what needs us
A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. That’s our job.
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.
Different parts, different methods
Bends and transitions
Wherever the duct turns or changes size, grease builds up. The air slows and drops its load, so these points get extra attention.
Attenuators and discharge
At the end of the duct is the discharge. It can gather grease and mark the wall or roof around it, so it’s cleaned as far as safe access allows.
What we do, step by step
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to The Valley.
- We start by working out how the duct runs and where it can be opened.
- Set points along the runs are tested for grease.
- Access panels are opened and heavy deposits scraped out by hand.
- Next the ducts and risers are degreased, using whatever suits the deposit.
- We test again, take pictures and note any part that couldn’t be reached.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
Getting a quote

- Ductwork that was poorly designed
- Fire dampers that don’t close (they need testing and remedials)
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Your questions about ductwork cleaning in The Valley
Can you come to The Valley after we close?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The work in The Valley can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we will book within them.
Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in The Valley?
Kitchens in The Valley are inspected by Swale council’s environmental health officers. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
What information do you need?
Only a few details: the address, the site type, your opening hours and how we reach the system. Photos and the last report help too. Then ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.
What happens to the waste?
Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, including grease, debris and dirty water. None of it is left on site.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
No. TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and TR19® is the benchmark for showing that grease in the extract is under control.
What shows that the ducts need a clean?
Drips, smells and weak extraction are clues, but measuring is the reliable way to know. A WFTT or DTT reading gives a clear answer.
Is a quote from pictures possible?
Usually, yes. Send wide shots, close-ups of any access panels and anything that worries you, and we normally come back within one working day. Some sites still need a visit, and we’ll say so.
When to call us in The Valley
Wherever the kitchen is, in The Valley or elsewhere, the duct fills in the same way: hours of cooking, the type of food and how well the filters are kept. BESA guidance sets minimum intervals of 3, 6 or 12 months depending on daily use.
What we’re most often called out for:
- Hardened, baked-on grease in long horizontal runs
- Proof of duct cleaning for the insurer
- Duct runs that can’t be reached
- Readings above 200 microns from a grease thickness test
Belmont House and Gardens, about 2.1 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses near The Valley; if you run event catering at a venue like that, cleans can be booked between functions.
Before booking anyone
- When they can work, and whether that is outside your opening hours
- When the next visit should be, and why
- What insurance they carry
- What paperwork you get at the end
Ductwork cleaning in The Valley: the local picture
Environmental health officers from Swale council inspect food businesses in The Valley. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. The Valley is covered by Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.
Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Lawrence, or anywhere in The Valley, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

What affects the cost of ductwork cleaning
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:
- The condition of the system
- The scale of the work
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- How many systems or sites are involved
Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every system or site you need covered, and you will get one fixed quote.
What to send for a quote
When you contact us, these details help:
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
