Normandy ductwork cleaning
Cleaning of kitchen extract ductwork, horizontal runs and vertical risers through access panels for Normandy, with a survey first and a report with photos at the end. Ask us for a fixed quote.
- Duct runs with no cleaning record
- Hardened, baked-on grease in long horizontal runs
- Stale grease odours from the duct
Signs you need ductwork cleaning in Normandy
Damaged or poorly fitted filters let more grease into the duct. More grease reaches the ductwork than it should, and build-up speeds up.
Clients usually contact us after spotting something like this:
- Heavy grease at the base of a riser
- Ductwork that has never been cleaned
- Grease seeping out of the duct seams
- Stale grease odours from the duct
Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Mark or anywhere around Normandy, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.

Ductwork cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Normandy
We treat ductwork like a doctor treats arteries: diagnose where grease has built up, clear it and confirm the result. Readings taken before and after show the difference, alongside before and after photos. The work covers vertical risers, attenuators and bends and junctions, and common reasons people get in touch are proof of duct cleaning for the insurer and high readings at a recent grease test.
For a kitchen in or near Normandy, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. That’s why every job is written up in a report with photos, and grease extract cleans come with a TR19® certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
What happens if it’s left?
Old grease in a duct for a kitchen in Normandy doesn’t stay soft. Heat and age turn it into a thick, stubborn crust, which makes each delayed clean a bigger one. Rural sites can’t always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.
You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us, and we’ll talk you through it.
What you get with us

- Full insurance on every job

Between visits
Aftercare is simple, and it helps at the next visit:
- Keep your cleaning records together
- Don’t switch the extract off early
- Flag drips from the duct straight away
- Diarise the next duct clean
After the clean, the same points are tested again, giving you before and after readings. Before and after pictures sit next to the numbers.
Keep to the cleaning interval on the report. A change in cooking hours may change the interval under BESA guidance, and grease thickness testing will show it.
FAQs for Normandy
Who inspects food businesses in Normandy?
The local authority for Normandy is Guildford council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
Do you work overnight in Normandy?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The site is handed back ready to open. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Does the law say we must follow TR19?
No, not in itself. TR19® is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs check against, and many insurance policies ask for proof of TR19® cleaning. The legal duty sits in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.
What does TR19 mean?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
How long will the duct clean take?
A short duct can be cleaned in a few hours, while long ducts and tall risers can need more than one visit. We plan the work around your kitchen.
What happens if you can’t reach some of it?
They’re marked on the report. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, which we can install.
What paperwork do you give after a duct clean?
A photo report, with readings and before and after photos, plus a TR19 certificate for a full system clean. It also gives a recommended next clean date.
What happens if there are not enough access panels?
Sections out of reach are written down on the report, in line with TR19. New panels can be fitted to reach them in future.
How it works
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and it goes on the report too. The visit takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. A few photos of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Normandy.
- We trace the duct and find every way in.
- Grease thickness is measured at set points.
- Once the kitchen has closed, we protect the area and open the panels.
- Thick grease is scraped out, then the runs and risers are degreased.
- We close up, re-test, photograph and record anything out of reach.
Before we arrive
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
Getting a quote
To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, pictures of the system and any previous report or certificate. Once you have those, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
Advice
Part by part
Horizontal duct runs
Horizontal runs carry the extract along ceilings and through voids. They collect grease as the air cools and slows, and we clean them section by section through access panels.
Bends and transitions
Grease tends to pile up at elbows. It’s scraped out and degreased, and test it before and after.
What ductwork cleaning looks like in Normandy
In Normandy, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Guildford council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. The fire and rescue service for Normandy is Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.
Commuter trade near Wanborough station can mean long cooking hours, and long hours put a kitchen into BESA’s more frequent cleaning bands. Term dates shape school work: for a school like Wyke Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.

What’s near Normandy

A little further out are Ash Museum (2.1 miles west) and Guildford Hospital (2.6 miles east). Not far away are Hog's Back and Ash Ranges.
What affects the cost of ductwork cleaning
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- How big the system is
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before work begins.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- The postcode and the type of business
- A few general shots of the system
- Any previous report or certificate
We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, and then send you a fixed quote. To get going, ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
