How we price ductwork cleaning

Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • What state the system is in
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • A single visit or a regular plan

A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before we start.

Asking for a quote

To speed up the quote, send us:

  • The postcode and the type of business
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels

If you need ductwork cleaning in Farnham, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line. Tell us what kind of premises it is and when it’s open, and send photos or your last report if you can. A fixed quote normally follows within one working day.

Ductwork cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Farnham

Between the canopy and the fan runs the ductwork, hidden above ceilings and inside walls. Grease settles along every metre of it and a fire in the duct can spread through the building. We clean it from the inside, through access panels, to BESA TR19® Grease. Common call-outs are for thick crusts of old grease along the duct and a rancid smell from the extract duct, on attenuators, access panels and bends and junctions.

Around a town like Farnham, extract cleaning usually means a restaurant, pub, takeaway or the kitchen of a school or care home. Each has a canopy, filters, ductwork and a fan to keep clear of grease, and each is cleaned to the same TR19® standard.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with pictures, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

What we are called out for in Farnham

Grease filters that don’t seal let fat straight through. The duct then takes grease that the filters should have stopped, and build-up speeds up.

Common reasons sites call us include:

  • Grease leaking from duct joints
  • Heavy grease at the base of a riser
  • High readings at a recent grease test
  • Smells of old cooking grease from the ductwork

A kitchen near Farnham station that serves breakfast and dinner can run its extract twelve hours or more, which shortens the cleaning interval.

What your quote should include

  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • What records you will receive afterwards
  • Whether the quote shows VAT
  • Whether inaccessible sections are listed on the report

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

For landlords and multi-site operators

The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements, and we will send a fixed quote.

Access panels

Extra panels can be installed where there are gaps, so the next clean reaches more of the system. The survey shows where they’re needed.

Attenuators and discharge

Near the discharge, the air has cooled the most, so it can collect more grease than expected. It’s tested and cleaned along with the rest.

The process

Each visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, isolate whatever needs isolating, do the work, clear away and leave you the report. On site, the work takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. We arrive in Farnham once you’ve closed and leave the site ready for the morning.

  1. Diagnosis: a survey of the duct’s route, size and access.
  2. You get a fixed price before work starts.
  3. We clean section by section, working from panel to panel.
  4. We take extra care at bends and at the foot of risers.
  5. Readings, pictures and a recommended next clean date complete the job.

Advice

Common questions in Farnham

Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Farnham in the summer holidays?

Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. The FSA’s register shows about 10 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Farnham. Just call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

Do you work overnight in Farnham?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The work in Farnham can fit around your hours. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

How do you clean inside the ductwork?

After a survey and grease readings, the duct is opened up through its access panels. Each run and riser is scraped and degreased, and test again when we are done.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Each site gets its own report and photos.

How often should kitchen ducts be cleaned?

At least as often as BESA guidance sets for your cooking hours. Kitchens cooking 12 to 16 hours a day need it at least every 3 months, while lighter use can go longer.

How long does it take to clean extract ducts?

It takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. The survey tells us how long your duct needs.

Which accreditations do you hold?

CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We’re fully insured and have been trading since 2009.

How much does ductwork cleaning cost?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: the size of the system, its condition, access and when we can work. We fix the price before any work starts.

Leave it or put it right?

BESA guidance says grease shouldn’t exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans. A reading of 500 microns or more at any point means a spot clean straight away. Leaving the duct makes those limits harder to keep to. Whatever the system, dirt and wear only get worse.

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re unsure, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Looking after it afterwards

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:

  • Leave a way through to the access panels
  • Flag drips from the duct right away
  • Diarise the next duct clean
  • Make sure filters are seated properly

Access panels are closed and sealed back up after cleaning, and the surrounding area is left clean. Grease and dirty water are contained and removed.

Keep the fan on throughout service. When the air stops, grease settles in the duct, so switching off early adds to the build-up.
