Ductwork Cleaning in Egham
Ductwork cleaning in Egham from ventilation hygiene specialists trading since 2009. Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus a 24/7 emergency line.
- Fat dripping from the ductwork
- Hardened, baked-on grease in long horizontal runs
- Duct runs with no cleaning record
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
About our ductwork cleaning in Egham
Duct Doctor has cleaned kitchen extract ductwork since 2009, working across London and the South East. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, with each certificate issued through the BESCA portal. If you are dealing with thick deposits at the bottom of a vertical duct and gaps where access panels were never fitted, we can put it right.
Many kitchens in a town like Egham were fitted into buildings built for something else, so duct runs can be awkward, with bends, long horizontal sections and too few access panels. Where the duct cannot be reached, new panels can be fitted, and anything left uncleaned is recorded on the report.
Every visit ends with a written report and photos, so you have a record of what was done and when. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Ductwork cleaning around Egham
The Food Standards Agency lists about 18 pubs, bars and clubs and about 6 hotels and guest houses as registered food businesses within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Egham. Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. In Egham, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Runnymede council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. The fire and rescue service for Egham is Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.
Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Ashford Hospital is the nearest hospital to Egham, about 3.5 miles east. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near St John's Church or elsewhere in Egham, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.
Egham is about 6 miles south-east of Slough, in Surrey. Anywhere in TW20, we can carry out ductwork cleaning at your premises. Egham is one of 395 places in Surrey we cover for commercial clients. We also work in Guildford, about 13 miles from Egham.
Every address in TW20 and TW18 is covered for ductwork cleaning, from the main roads to the quietest streets. Local streets include Station Road, Church Road and High Street, and we cover them all for ductwork cleaning. Egham sits on or near the A30 and A308, which makes travel easy for evening and night visits. If your site is just outside Egham, we cover Englefield Green (1 mile west), Hythe End (1 mile north), Egham Hythe (1 mile east), Stroude (1 mile south) and Thorpe (2 miles south-east). We also work in nearby towns such as Guildford (13 miles south), Woking (8 miles south), Camberley (10 miles south-west), Epsom (14 miles south-east), Ewell (14 miles south-east) and Walton-on-Thames (7 miles south-east). As one of the bigger places in Surrey, Egham has commercial sites of every size, and we cover all of them for ductwork cleaning.
What’s near Egham
Typical jobs here are in premises near Strode's College, The Railway Public House and The Magna Carta School. Egham has its own railway station: Egham station. Well-known places in the area include Windsor Castle (4.5 miles north-west) and Spelthorne Museum (1.5 miles east). Green spaces nearby include St Ann's Hill and Manor Lake.
How the job changes from site to site
Attenuators and discharge
Some systems have attenuators to reduce noise, and their linings can soak up grease. They’re cleaned where possible and recorded if not.
Access panels
Panels have to seal properly once they’re closed, so grease and air stay inside the duct. We’ll tell you if any panel needs replacing.
What happens if it’s left?
Under BESA guidance, the mean grease level should stay at or below 200 microns between cleans. Anywhere that reaches 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning. Leaving the duct makes those limits harder to keep to. A small fault found now is a quick job; the same fault found later can close the site.
What you pay depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before work begins, so you know where you stand.

How we price ductwork cleaning
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- The condition of the system
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- How big the system is
- Where the site is and how we reach it
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before we start.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- The postcode and the type of business
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
Getting a quote does not take long. Send a few details and photos, and we usually reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.
When to call us in Egham
Risers carry the extract up through the building. Grease clings to the walls and can run down to the base as liquid grease runs down. Access along its height is needed to clean it properly.
Look out for any of the following:
- A rancid smell from the extract duct
- Years of grease along the duct floor
- A duct nobody has opened in years
- An insurer asking for TR19 evidence
If you run a café or takeaway near Egham station, early starts and late finishes leave little time to clean, so overnight extract cleaning suits.
What to look for in a quote
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- How areas they cannot reach will be recorded
- Whether the figure could change on the day
- When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
Your questions about ductwork cleaning in Egham
Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Egham?
Food hygiene inspections in Egham are carried out by Runnymede council. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.
Can school kitchens in Egham be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. With about 15 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Egham, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. You can ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with the dates the site is empty.
Are you accredited?
Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.
How often should kitchen ducts be cleaned?
The duct is cleaned as part of the whole system, at intervals set by BESA guidance, ranging from 3-monthly to 12-monthly. Readings tell you if it needs to be more often.
Do I get a certificate for ductwork cleaning?
Every clean comes with a photo report, and a full TR19 clean also comes with a certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Keep both in the maintenance log.
How do you protect the area?
With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. We keep the work contained and leave the area clean.
How is kitchen extract ductwork cleaned?
We survey the route, test the grease, then open the access panels. Each run and riser is scraped and degreased, and test again when we are done.
How long will the duct clean take?
A short duct can be cleaned in a few hours, while long ducts and tall risers can need more than one visit. Visits are planned out of hours.
Between visits
To keep the system working properly between visits:
- Don’t switch the extract off early
- Check readings when the menu changes
- Get panels fitted where the duct couldn’t be cleaned
- Keep grease filters clean and fitted whenever you cook
You will have a recommended date for the next clean, worked out from the grease we found and how long you cook each day, in line with BESA guidance.
Run the extract the whole time the kitchen is cooking. Moving air carries vapour through rather than letting it settle, so switching off early adds to the build-up.
How the visit works
Your staff do not need to do much on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and the rest is down to us. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. In Egham, the visit is planned around your opening hours, parking and access to the system.
- We trace the duct and find every way in.
- We take grease readings along the route.
- Once the kitchen has closed, we protect the area and open the panels.
- Thick grease is scraped out, then the runs and risers are degreased.
- We close up, re-test, photograph and record anything out of reach.
Before we arrive
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
Getting a quote
Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your pictures and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before any work starts.
