Need canopy cleaning in Stoke?

Canopy cleaning in Stoke, done properly

Canopy cleaning is part of every full TR19® Grease clean, but a canopy can also need cleaning on its own, between full system cleans. In that case, the report makes clear what was and wasn’t cleaned, so your records stay accurate. If you are dealing with poor capture at the hood and a plenum thick with grease behind the filters, we can help, from baffle filters, wall canopies and plenum chambers onwards.

In a village or hamlet like Stoke, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are normally a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Leave it or put it right?

A canopy clean in Stoke now stops the grease spreading further. It takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several, out of hours so service carries on. Put off, the grease simply moves further into the system. It’s simpler to plan the work at Stoke now than to arrange it in a hurry later.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

What canopy cleaning can’t fix

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Grease filters too damaged to refit (they need replacing)
  • A fan that can’t pull enough air because it’s worn out
  • A canopy undersized for the equipment

If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Wall canopies
  • Grease gutters
  • Island canopies
  • Baffle filters
  • Canopy light fittings
  • Plenum chambers

What your team can do, and what needs us

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.

Your questions about canopy cleaning in Stoke

Does coastal air change anything about canopy cleaning in Stoke?

It can. Being within about 1 mile of the sea means more corrosion on metalwork in Stoke than inland. Corroded fixings and housings are noted on the report so they can be dealt with.

Can you come to Stoke after we close?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The site is handed back ready to open. When you call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, mention when the site is quiet.

What types of premises do you cover?

Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a single café to a large school. We work with hotels, schools, care homes, offices, retail and leisure sites.

How much does canopy cleaning cost?

It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. To get one, ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and tell us about the site and its opening hours.

What kinds of canopies do you clean?

Canopies in pubs, restaurants, hotels, schools, care homes, offices and other kitchens. Whatever is cooked under it, the canopy is cleaned the same thorough way, with the equipment off and cool.

Are the filters cleaned too?

Filters are removed so we can clean the plenum and housing, then cleaned and refitted. Between cleans, a filter exchange service can keep them in good order.

What is TR19?

It’s BESA’s specification and the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping, and it takes a risk-based approach.

What do you do to protect the area?

By covering it before any work starts. We keep the work contained and leave the area clean.

The process

The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. Then we make the system safe and start. The work on site takes a few hours for most canopies, and we clear up before we go. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Stoke and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. We look at the canopy first, from pictures or on a visit.
  2. Cooking equipment is left to cool and the area under the canopy protected.
  3. Filters come out and the plenum behind them is scraped and degreased.
  4. We degrease the canopy shell, its seams and the grease troughs.
  5. Filters go back, the area is cleaned down and photos are taken.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need

Getting a quote

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

Looking after it afterwards

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Check filters are not leaving gaps
  • Keep the fan on through service
  • Empty the grease troughs before they fill
  • Report new drips or smells from the canopy

A full system clean comes with a TR19 certificate from the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If the job covers only the canopy, the paperwork reflects that.

Wipe the canopy surfaces at the end of each day. It won’t replace a professional clean, but it slows the build-up you can see.

Kitchen extracts in Stoke

Stoke is within about 1 mile of the coast. Corrosion on the fan housing and cowl is worth a look at every clean, alongside the grease. There are about 4 restaurants, cafés and canteens within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Stoke, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Any of those kitchens with a canopy has a hood that needs cleaning inside and out. Environmental health officers from Medway council inspect food businesses in Stoke. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Medway Maritime Hospital about 5.7 miles south-west, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. For schools such as Stoke Primary Academy, kitchen extract cleaning is normally booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.

Part by part

Pub and hotel kitchens

Pub and hotel kitchens can cook from breakfast to late evening. That is a lot of grease on the canopy, and canopy cleans between full cleans can help.

Plenums and filter housings

The plenum is the space behind the filters where air gathers before entering the duct. Grease that slips past the filters settles there, and it’s cleaned every time we clean the canopy.

Common problems we fix in Stoke

Because the plenum sits behind the filters, it’s easy to forget. Kitchen staff clean what they can see, leaving the plenum and housing to collect grease between professional cleans.

Keep an eye out for these warning signs:

  • Drips from the canopy onto the range
  • A plenum thick with grease behind the filters
  • Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
  • A hood coated in old grease

Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Peter and St Paul or anywhere around Stoke, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.
