Kitchen extracts in Preston
The FSA’s data shows about 27 pubs, bars and clubs and about 6 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses registered in and around Preston, up to about a mile and a half out. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. Preston sits within the area of London Fire Brigade. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Overnight is the normal time to clean a London kitchen extract, so trading isn’t affected.
For kitchens close to South Kenton station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight. School kitchens, at schools like Preston Park Primary School for example, are typically cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost.

Landmarks near Preston

For rail, the closest station is South Kenton station, roughly 0.6 miles west. Canopy cleaning in Preston, done properly
A kitchen team can wipe the outside of a canopy, but the seams, gutters and inner skin need more. We scrape the heavy deposits, then degrease the surfaces with methods that suit the build-up, using hot water or steam where it helps. If you are dealing with a hood coated in old grease and canopy gutters full of old fat, we can help.
Across London, many commercial kitchens are squeezed into basements and narrow back-of-house spaces, with extract ducts that can climb several floors to discharge at roof level. In Preston, as elsewhere in the capital, a long duct run means more access points to open and more grease to remove.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

FAQs for Preston
Who inspects food businesses in Preston?
Kitchens in Preston are inspected by Brent council’s environmental health officers. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.
What do you need to know about parking in Preston?
Parking and loading in London need planning, so tell us about bays, permits and building rules when you book. Much of our London work is done overnight, which helps.
Do you clean canopies in all kinds of kitchens?
Single hoods, long wall canopies and island canopies alike. We work out the approach when we survey, from pictures or a visit.
Will we have to shut during the visit?
Not usually. The area we are working in has to be out of use while we’re there, so the visit goes in a quiet slot.
Where does the waste go?
It leaves the site with us when we go. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.
Which sectors do you work in?
All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. We fit the work around how the site operates.
Which accreditations do you hold?
BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We’re fully insured and have been trading since 2009.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry full insurance, and we have been trading since 2009.
Fixed quotes for canopy cleaning in Preston
The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:
- How easy every part is to reach
- Any permits to work or inductions
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re unsure, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email for straight advice and a fixed quote.
Helping us quote
Many jobs can be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Your last certificate, test record or report
We don’t publish a price list, because every site is different. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To start, ring 0345 646 2711 or email us.
How the job changes from site to site
School and staff canteen kitchens
A canteen canopy may cook fewer hours, but it still collects grease. BESA guidance still sets a minimum interval for the whole system, and the canopy is part of it.
Island canopies
Everything about an island canopy is on show so a clean, even finish matters. We degrease it thoroughly and photograph the result.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that’s where we come in.
Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. That’s our job.
Why deal with it now?
If the canopy waits for the next full clean, grease keeps adding up. Some kitchens need the canopy cleaning more often than the whole system, and readings or a look behind the filters will show it. For a site in Preston, fitting the work in overnight now is far easier than closing at short notice later.
Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.

How it works
Each visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, make the system safe, carry out the canopy cleaning, clear away and leave you the report. The visit itself takes a few hours for most canopies. Night and weekend working is normal for us in London, and a site in Preston is no exception.
- We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
- Out of hours, the range is switched off, cooled and covered.
- With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
- The canopy shell, seams, troughs and gutters are degreased inside and out.
- Filters are refitted, the area cleaned down and the photo report put together.
How to prepare
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
- Let us know about parking and loading
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
Getting a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
Advice
When something else is needed
Canopy cleaning cannot fix everything, and we will tell you before any work starts. It will not put right:
- Bent or broken filters
- A fan that cannot pull enough air because it’s worn out
- Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)
If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.
Parts of the system we cover

Common problems we fix in Preston
However carefully a kitchen in Preston is run, the canopy still collects grease. That grease is fuel sitting right above the heat, which is why a flare-up near a dirty canopy is so dangerous.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- A sticky, discoloured canopy
- A filter housing caked in grease
- Filters that clog soon after cleaning
- Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; St. Mark's Hospital is the nearest hospital to Preston, about 1.1 miles west.
What your quote should include
- When the next visit should be, and why
- Proof of accreditation you can verify
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
