Canopy cleaning across New England

Why deal with it now?

A blocked plenum and clogged filters cut the airflow at the canopy. Smoke and heat hang around the cooking line, and the fan works harder for less. Cleaning restores the path the air should take. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

We do not list prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and we will explain what it covers.

How we handle canopy cleaning in New England

A greasy canopy tells an inspector a lot before they’ve opened anything. Under the surface, the plenum behind the filters is typically in a worse state. We clean both, so the canopy is clean where it shows and where it doesn’t. Typical jobs include an EHO comment about the canopy and grease channels that no longer drain, across plenum chambers, island canopies and canopy light fittings.

Somewhere as small as New England, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.

Each visit ends with a written report and pictures, so there’s a dated record of the work. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Keeping the system healthy

Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Tell us when the canopy starts to drip
  • Check all filters are fitted before service
  • Wash or exchange the filters on a regular cycle
  • Run the extract the whole time you’re cooking

A full system clean comes with a TR19 certificate from the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If the job covers only the canopy, the paperwork reflects that.

Do not let canopy gutters fill to the brim. Overflowing troughs are the usual cause of drips onto the range, so make emptying them part of the closing routine.

Fixed quotes for canopy cleaning in New England

Your quote is based on your site. We consider:

  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • The size of the system
  • What state the system is in

No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

Helping us quote

A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:

  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

What happens on the day

Our technicians bring everything the work needs, including protection sheets, the right tools and access kit. You only need to give us clear access and switch off what needs to be off. On site, the work takes a few hours for most canopies. In a small place like New England, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.

  1. We start by checking the canopy and what’s behind its filters.
  2. Equipment is turned off and cooled, and the area under the canopy is protected.
  3. Thick grease is scraped away before the canopy is degreased.
  4. Plenum, housing, troughs and canopy are all cleaned and checked.
  5. The canopy is signed off with before and after photos and a next clean date.

How to prepare

  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use
  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
  • Tell us where we can park and unload

FAQs for New England

Do you work overnight in New England?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. That way a site in New England does not have to lose a day’s trading. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Which fire authority looks after New England?

It’s Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, which covers New England. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

Do you cover New England?

Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and that includes New England.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes, of course. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we’ll suggest a schedule and quote for it.

How much notice should we give?

The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. We usually quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.

Are the filters cleaned too?

We take them out, clean them and put them back. Between cleans, a filter exchange service can keep them in good order.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and we will quote them together.

How long does canopy cleaning take?

That depends on the size of the canopy and how much grease is on it. Typically it takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several.

What staff can safely do

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed quote.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.

What canopy cleaning cannot fix

We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what canopy cleaning won’t do:

  • A canopy too small for the cooking under it (that is a design question)
  • A dirty extract fan further along the system
  • Grease filters too damaged to refit (they need replacing)

If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll say what we think before you book.
